A lot of people recommended boosting Rxton 3 Pink/Blue so I tested this out.

I glued a boosted Rxton 3 Pink and unboosted sheet to the same blade. Just from bouncing the ball, I honestly see little or no difference at all. Both sides seem 99% the same in rebound and feeling. So my conclusion is that this rubber does not respond well to booster. If I really force myself to look hard, maybe there is 1-2% increase in rebound? But again, I might just be tricking myself.

So if you boosted it, did you find a different result from my testing?

Does Rxton Blue have a different property than Pink?

Pink is a treated sponge. You can tell by the gasoline smell compared to the no smell from the Blue. So I guess you can say that it's already boosted just to make it softer but make it play similar to Blue. This is all my speculation to be fair.

Boosting Pink resulted in zero curl despite two layers. Boosting Blue with just one layer caused a curl that didn't subside until 48 hrs.

Blue boosted is night and day difference. It's like 2x as fast as the Pink and makes a loud cracking noise on hard hits.

Pink and Blue are not the same. Buy Blue.

Sounds cool. I will try the Blue next time.

How did you find the hardness between Pink and Blue?

Because my 2 Pink's are very hard, like 55d.

Is the topsheet the same? same tackiness?

I have boosted Rxton 3 pink twice. Nothing. There is no catapult effect. So I ripped it off and it is not attached to any blade right now. I need my BH rubber to be a bit bouncy so not impressed with Rxton 3 pink (or Big Dipper or anything chinese) on my BH side.

So, I tried putting myself under a blind test between the unboosted Rxton Pink and the boosted one. I spin the racket around in my hand so I dont know which one I have facing up, and bounce it and try guessing which one it is.

It seems that I am always always able to guess which one is which. I don't quite know why. Visually, they seem to be bouncing the same height. But the boosted one maybe just feels a bit more lighter and bouncier.

Hhmmm.... that white creamy sponge is indeed a weird one.
After several boost sessions i can now use the rubber as a FH.
For me this rubber was weird unboosted and is weird now boosted.
I mean weird only in the sense that it simply behaves different than any other rubber I had.

Step one of your "blind test" is over, now step two.
You now have to test shots, ideally from a robot, to guarantee consistency, maybe doing 10 shots, very concentrated and always aiming at a spot and then without interruption twiddle the racket and continue the same shot. I am sure you will now find a considerable difference between the two sides.

rebound test is probably a soft bounce?

when hitting high gear, you should be able to feel boost or no boost.
or at least I can, with both blue and pink.
I have used about 4 sheets of pink and about 2 or 3 blues.

rebound or not, before or after boost, is not a true character of the rubbers capability. Otherwise, just go and get the highest rebound rubber in the market and totally ignore the spin capability.

Have you found that the Blue reacts much stronger to booster than Pink? as @turbozed said?

Rxton 2 Pink was a 51d sponge. Blue is 52d sponge. This is measured on the Shore O durometer.

You mustve gotten some very bizarre sheets of Pink. Or perhaps the durometer in your brain is not calibrated correctly.

After boosting with two layers of Seamoon, the Blue is now 50d.

Don't know why you don't believe me that boosting makes a giant difference with the Blue so I'll just repeat it here.

Boosting makes a huge difference for the Blue. It's $8 just buy it and try it out.

I do believe you. But I just think Loki is a bit all over the place from batch to batch. So maybe other people received a different batch and it behaves differently.

I only have my experience to work on but boosting made a difference on the my early batch of Blue (it had just came out) and one I bought a month ago.

The new one responded to booster with such a crazy curl that I didn't want to go for a second layer of SM. But I can feel the 2 layer Blue sheet is faster. So much faster that it's become more of a blocking and punching rubber.

I tried ripping the top sheet from the sponge after boosting the new Blue and couldn't even get it to separate. So I'm guessing I could've boosted it a bit more.

I'm sticking with the boosted Blue for now on my Resonate AI. I've been able to hit some ridiculous shots on my BH that I've never done before and my reactive blocks come back fast and accurate. Thing is crazy but probably not for everyone.

What rubber would you compared the catapult of the boosted Blue to?

I haven't used too many backhand rubbers but can compare it to Moon 12 and Fastarc C1. Boosted blue has like two modes. One is pretty controlled and slow like you're used to with Pink. Boosted Blue is slightly faster than Pink on low and medium shots which is good for reactive blocks and still finding the table. If you hit with more power it switches too a higher gear that's much faster than I can generate with Moon 12 or C1. It's like getting the punchy power of a BH punch without having to actually do a BH punch.

Maybe I'll send you a video with some of my BH practice.

It feels a little less catapulty and more direct though. It feels fast without being bouncy, if that makes any sense. On the Sanwei 75 Inner I feel less dwell time than my Yasaka Resonate AI. So the blade you use might influence the catapult effect feeling.

So i tested today unboosted Rxton pink on fh and boosted pink on bh. Actually the booster effect is beneficial. It does add a bit of bounce and makes it easier to use. I dont think its a strong effect though, but its still nice.

Indeed Pink is powerful and reliable on fh. I really like it.

Its also fast enough on bh and is quite nice.
