I would be absolutely ASTONISHED if WTT's revenue was 50M or greater. 80% of their events last year looked so undersold. Youtube's livestream numbers are really not that impressive. Only thing that I will say I have no idea about and would love to be educated on is if the licensing and revenue coming from China/other asian countries where table tennis is popular are just filling these gaps in that we see from the West's point of view.
Just China Smash 2024 alone brought in CN¥57 million (~US$7.8 million) in ticket revenue and the event attracted funding of CN¥25 million (~US$3.4 million). For China Smash 2025, it's said funding could reach over CN¥100 million (~US$13.6 million).

I think you, as the moderator, posting the IP address of user without their consent is unethical, and illegal and also pathetical. So that's what I think. And no, we, as everyone who have a presence online, do not allow our IP to be published on internet without our consent.

What a coward, really, Carl. You can't even man up and admit that you made a mistake by posting a user's IP address to prove your point (which clearly failed). So I don’t think you’re asking for our permission or opinion—you’re just too cowardly to own up to the mistake you made, and to correct your mistake. That's what you are doing :)

Look, I was told I should remove the photos. I am not trying to cause you problems. I posted those for you. I am not doing anything but trying to help you.

Well, you know what, I have just been informed that I am not supposed to post IP address. So I have removed it. I am sorry about that. I really only posted it for you to see. I am not trying to cause trouble for you.
Oh, whoa. Finally, we got here.

Please create a separate post for the apology and assure this community that, as a moderator, you will not post any user’s IP address to win arguments or gain the upper hand. What you did here is the exact opposite of fostering an open and healthy discussion environment, and again it's pathetic.

Until then, we reserve every legal right against TTD (and the legal entity behind it) and you, Carl, personally, for leaking our private information without consent.

Again, I am trying to help. So, if you have some way in which you want my help you can ask.

If you want this thread to stay how it is, that is fine. But if you want to delete everything and start again, so that the mess is not here, I can also help with that.

Feel free to let me know what you think will be best.

Call me old fashioned, but I highly doubt challenging the mods and generally being argumentative is going to win you many allies regardless of the conduct of your target. Like UDC said, post in some other topics and let folks get to know you.
Appreciate the suggestion.

Our main goal is to push ITTF to take action—whether that’s adding independent directors to WTT, fulfilling their governance responsibilities, or other necessary reforms. We’ve been posting here and on Reddit because we believe sharing this information might encourage more TT fans to question whether WTT has the right governance in place.

That said, at the end of the day, meaningful change will have to come from within ITTF and its member associations. They are the ones with the authority to drive real reform.

Carl, I'm reposting my response to your email (With Daniel Ives, cc'ed below)

As mentioned, you need to create a separate, pinned post in the General Talks board apologizing for publishing users’ IP addresses without their consent in an attempt to prove your point and win an argument. In this post, you must also ensure and reiterate TTD’s privacy policy, stating clearly that you and other moderators will not leak users’ information at your discretion in the future.

This post should remain pinned for three days and must not be deleted afterward. It should serve as a reminder to you and other moderators that your role gives you the power to build a better community, not to weaponize that power against users.

And by the way, Carl, I don’t think you realize this, but the fact that you used your email address to send a personal email to the registration email I used for this platform is yet another violation of privacy. I did not consent to my registration email being accessed or used for any purpose other than account-related matters.

Dan Ives—on the off chance you’re reading this post, I strongly suggest you debrief your moderators on the basic data-sharing and privacy rules that are fundamental to running any online community.

Wait, you mean, your email that you added to three different posts? You added it to those posts but did not want anyone to contact you via that email?

I am sorry. I obviously am missing something.

Also, I did not accuse you of being a spam account. I said our software identified you as potentially suspicious and associated you with another account.

Those coordinates point to a public park in NYC right next to the City Hall and with a public wifi hot spot....
So unless the OP and his (imaginary?) friends live in a tent right next to the City Hall, then this is not a private location. I somewhat doubt that the posting of these coordinates is against the law. Also, lots of spam could (potentially) come from this area.
Furthermore, the style of argumentation kind of resembles someone well known (i. e. infamous) on tt forums. I would assume Carl knows who I'm talking about, but Carl probably knows better if OP and this person are actually the same.

I like the idea of WTT, especially the aspect that it forces you to play year round and some nations like China can't hide in high level training Camps for months and then just Show up and dominate.

It is kinda like in tennis where everyone is familiar with each other which creates a more level playing ground.

However the Organization level of WTT seems to be lacking.

You’re right, Carl. You could have gotten the email from the post itself, rather than from the account info—that's a possibility. I guess I made the wrong assumption based on your other actions here.

Whether you labeled us as a spamming account is beside the point. You claimed our IP was flagged as spam but failed to provide evidence of that, and then you chose to post our IP address anyway.

The apology needs to be about you and other moderators never publishing user information that you have access to, especially when users haven’t opted to share it. It’s both unethical and illegal.

The penalty rule is open to subjective judgment I guess. Older athletes may indeed need longer break times, but fully agree that the rules should not favor established or older athletes. Instead, they should encourage competition across age groups and gives emerging players a fair chance to compete and win.

To clarify, we are not against any particular rule of WTT, although many of them are debatable. What we do believe is that WTT lacks the proper management and governance structure to effectively debate these issues and make informed decisions about the League that balance commercial results, athlete wellbeing, sustainability, and the overall competition in the sport.

Calling it hiding is hilarious. FFTT just conducted a similar training camp (which Gatien called for back in 2012 as well) with the Lebrun brothers and company by skipping XTWC 2024. DTTB and the others in Europe are free to copy the practice as well when they stop giving so much attention to the clubs and the leagues (Gatien again).

What's more. CTTA still managed a month-long one in Chengdu ahead of Paris 2024.

I’m curious to know what IP address is showing on your end that would lead to this accusation. Simply labeling someone as a spammer after removing their posts feels dismissive and too convenient.

So you essentially ask USDC about the IP address, and when he provides it you want to sue him, right?

I believe the majority here is on the side of players, and we actually agree more or less with your intention (at least so I see it), but what you are showing here, is super contra-productive.

So I suggest, leave and don't come again.

Hmm, yes, it does feel a bit like a set-up / trap - primarily directed at Carl - , with the topic itself being used as a "disguise", it seems.

What you said is not true at all and you intentionally omitted info in your quote.

In your quote, you conveniently cut out the first part of the question directed at Carl and tried to imply that the question was asking Carl to post the IP address, which is clearly a lie when you read the full question below.
  1. You mentioned that this IP address is flagged as belonging to a spammer. Could you please provide evidence supporting this claim? This is the first time I, as the person posting on behalf of our group, have ever registered on TTD. I’m curious to know what IP address is showing on your end that would lead to this accusation. Simply labeling someone as a spammer after removing their posts feels dismissive and too convenient.

Assume you’ve already made up your mind, otherwise all of the above is pretty clear if you read both his comment and mine. It's understandable, though, when you choose a position before looking at the facts.

Appreciate your suggestion for this account to leave TTD, but I guess you don’t have any power over that, do you? :p

Way past time to dump the troll.

There was a guy on all the forums many years ago who started fights like this, trying to rally against the ITTF. He even created his own alternative organisation, created a crappy little forum for it, and created multiple accounts / posts on his own forum to make it seem like he had a following. It was obviously just a single person with significant mental issues. He wasn't fooling anyone. He tried this stuff multiple times over many years, he is truly obsessed. It always ended in failure, of course.

So now these anonymous 'fans' (one person) turns up, picks a fight with Carl as if he already had a past beef with him, asks for evidence of his IP address being linked to spammers and then complains when his IP address is posted - which cannot be used to link to a physical address without a cooperation from the Telco, which requires a warrant. Then comes the i-am-a-victim-being-oppressed-by-the-evil-moderators posts, followed by other egotistical power-trips.

Gee, I wonder if this is the same guy.
