Neee, it does not work like that.
When one makes drastic"rubber-changes" it involves weeks and months of re-inventing your whole techniques.
Sure there can be some instant changes that directly relate to the characteristics of the rubber which can be positive or negative but to completely improve your game will take time.

I remember reading that it took Mattias Falck 2 years to adapt to short P on the FH.

Nope. It's a learning curve. It'll take time until you reach the level you was before the change and reaching above that will be entirely dependent on if you go towards advancing, or if you're using it as crutches.

They're closer in philosophy to inverted than long pips are though, so transition is easier. With sp you can somewhat keep your play style, with lp you have to fully change it.

Yes and yes. I have more fun.

Why would you switch? As noted, it isn't going to just make you better. Some things can be better and others worse.

My reason for bh sp was my feeling on backhand wasn't good enough to consistently open against heavy serves and pushes with inverted. This crushed my confidence so in comps I would push too much, or be forced to step around all the time.

It takes about five years to fully adapt to play with pips. Longer if you keep playing like you have inverted. Don't expect miracles, have a solid reason, and it can be a good change.

From time to time I think of switching to SP on BH too but I would miss too much that nice arc when opening in topspin against backspin...and also it's a matter of principle, I badly want to win this battle of using confindently my BH on official matches like I do on traning.
