I've seen quite a few players to use a Dignics 09C rubber on the FH and a Tenergy on the BH.

My question is: how do you come to this combination? Has anyone tried playing Dignics on both sides and then decided to change to Tenergy just on BH? If so, what makes Tenergy superior to Dignics for you specifically for the backhand side?

You try different rubbers on both FH and BH, then you decide what's best for you. There's no exact science to the process. If feeling adventurous, you may also try out the sponge thicknesses for each rubber. Many players just copy the setup of a top player who has a similar style.

I have:
Viscaria
Forehand: Tenergy 05 Hard
Backhand: Dignics 64
Great, thanks, do you mind sharing why you chose this particular combination? Did you consider Dignics on forehand as well? What advantage do you see, if any, against Tenergy+Tenergy or Dignics+Dignics?

Not everyone likes tacky rubbers on the backhand side, that's it
Can you tell why?
I noticed, for example, when switching to Dignics on backhand, that they are less forgivable when you're opening up (BH topspin shot against a backspin ball), and you need to be really precise choosing the bat angle in these shots. Is that the kind of issue others are experiencing

As the other said. Its preference. Since Tenergy and Dignics play differently, throw angle, spin creation and sensitivity, katapult, top end speed, dwell time... Either you copy a setup or try what you like. Hardness may also be a factor.
I always played the same rubber on both sides so I stuck to it until now (just hardness difference BH/FH)

Tacky rubbers are slower and usually harder, which requires much more effort with BH shots. I prefer 45-47 degrees relatively direct eurojap rubbers.

I like side-specific rubbers.
Tenergy 05 Hard = designated FOREHAND rubber, not suitable for backhand
Tenergy/Dignics 64 = designated BACKHAND rubber, not suitable for forehand

Both T05H and D64 produce direct, linear shots with low throw angle.
D64 = 100% control. Ball goes precisely where I intend to hit it. Safe, stable, keep the rally going.
T05H = kill shot on FH. Highest shot quality with proper technique/timing.

So I keep the rally going with my Controlled D64 Backhand, and finish rallies with my Kill Shot T05H Forehand.

Also, both rubbers mesh really really well with the Viscaria.
