The 2015 Liebherr European Table Tennis Championships, 25th - 4th October, Ekaterinburg, Russia

News has just come in that Germany's Timo Boll has been forced to withdraw due a knee injury and cannot play in the team event or the singles event at the European Championships. Timo Boll explained in an interview with the iTTF, "It is 10 months until the Olympic Games in Rio. I need to undergo surgery on Thursday in order to give myself the best possible chance to participate in my fifth Olympic event. We wish Timo the best of luck on his road to recovery.

Will 2013 champions Germany regain the team title without their number 1 player Timo Boll. Can the strong line ups including France, Portugal, Greece, Sweden or Russia make a dent in the draw. Portugal won last years European Team Championships, will their momentum see them win the title for a second time? Stay tuned for the European Championships!

Wow, I'm quite surprised by the poll, most people are favoring Portugal over Germany. Probably because TImo can't play?

Portugal won when Timo could play (though Ovtcharov was not 100%). Even with Timo, Portugal has the players to win. I think that it is 50-50 in either case because the Portugal players tend to elevate their game as a team - Freitas, Appolonia, Monteiro, Geraldo - its just a great team.

Wow what a thrilling match, i was sure that France will win as they were leading 2-0 but i am so happy that Portugal won. They are my favorite team in the championship. :)

I was hoping for France...their players have very unique styles and are a joy to watch...I actually never liked Portugal's team very much
