THE KINSFOLK

Amongst all the europian folks, it is Slovakia we have most liking for. Similarity of mentalities, similarity of language, similarity of alcohol drinks in particular.

Long live dear friends.

U21 is actually so imported, and sad that ITTF had it removed
not every country can have kids (U18 or U19 today) taking on adults and the U21 back then was a very important age platform for those to continue to adjust and leverage sponsors to continue to aid them in they journey

you could notice a lot that was top 10 in U18 or U19 could actually disappear, due to out of world ranking (and with that sponsorship money) and wont' be able to catch top 100 in the world in senior (with that, maybe some other sponsorship money).

Well played Anna Hursey!
Anna Hursey is legit! Not only because she won this tournament, but I've been watching her in the Bundesliga thanks to @backspacer 's thread. Her game is very solid. She will definitely challenge for European champion in the future.

Been there on Thursday, was open to public, free entry. There were more people on Thursday (also more Slovak players played on that particular day and it was a bank holiday here too). Met Craig Bryant there. Top guy!

no doubt

tons of sacrifice, with mom taking her back to her home town in Harbin, China (very very cold temperatures), and training with famous Chinese coaches (ie Ma Zhigang) for many years, and doing "online schooling" in between.
Mom had to be the tutor and what not.

I still remember back then, the mom showing me videos of a tiny Anna hitting the ball, and I just went to check the dates. She started the Harbin training in 2014, when Anna was around 9 years old.

Congratulations to Anna. She was playing the top adult tournaments when she was around 6/7yo. So her parents must have been training her before that Harbin. Lots of dedication.

yeah, I didn't ask how old she was when she started to train, but yeah, she was a decent level already before heading to China to train full time there.
