Diaz got yellow for tipping her racket on the table, then yellow/red for kicking the ball up after a superb rallye that she lost.
(why Diaz understood it had something to with her service first is probably a matter of the quality of the English spoken by the umpire...)
You never know if the umpires are under supervision, because surely according to the rules both punishments are justified and the umpire didn´t do anything wrong.
However, I think Zhang had sympathy for the ball kicking out of frustration, because it could really happen to anyone, and didn´t want the point resulting from the decision.
If the umpire had followed his previous straight line, a yellow card should have been awarded to Zhang for intentionally failing her service so obviously, as that is also not allowed.
TT is becoming more and more stupid when it comes to umpiring, the serve regulations are quite impossible to judge with true objectivity without VAR, people can yell after a point like Harimoto does, but they can't show their frustration too much, it has to be very, very, very light.
25 years ago you could do hidden serves, you could show anything, frustration included as long as you didn't show direspect to your opponent or throw the racket over the net to the opponent's side or to the umpires or coach. A simple ditch on your own side of the table wasn't a big deal. Primorac, Kreanga, Eloi or Karakasevic could really show a sanguine temperament, but it has never been disrespectfull, we all know it has to do with China's way of thinking table tennis... China's way of life in general 🤨

What match was this? What exactly happened? What was the exact insult to Zhang Jike?![]()
After the Koreans made difficulties for Ma Long, they were taught a lesson. They insulted Zhang Jike and was beaten 11:0 by Xu Xin
Moreover, they themselves are not always good in discipline.
In addition to this incident, one can recall how Wang Chuqin threw a racket at the net ...

And what happened to WCQ after ditching a racket at the net ? a long "suspension" from the CNT,his coach included ! exactly what I said: China don't like it when you show you show your emotion, even for that simple ditch at the net... that's really stupid. China is killing that sport. It's China's policies that are actually applied to umpiring ! and that umpire in the Diaz/Zhang match was actually chinese, seriously: how the heck kicking a 2.5 grams plastic "soccer style" can be disrespectful or dangerous ?
This is dangerous when it comes to tennis racket smashed or thrown eerywhere, or a ball thrown to ball boys, umpires, or else, but come on... TT racket ditched to the net or plastic balls ?
