Today got my first Hurricane Neo 39 blue sponge at third year of training.

I have a few questions: to boost or not to boost and on what blade forehand is better to attach it? Inner or outer composition? I have used outer with D09c for a last year plus minus.

So the variants can be Ovtcharov alc/Lin-Gaoyuan alc/ Viscaria or FZD SALC 🤓

I would try it unboosted first to see if you need additional boosting or not. Hard to say what fits you best. The rubber will most certainly work well with both types of blades. It's your preferences that should help you decide what would suit you best. Not much help there perhaps :)

I'm sure you will receive 1001 answers to this question, but here's my opinion: H3 works well with both outer and inner composite blades; just try it on whatever you are most used to and see if you like it.

As for the boosting, I would still go for 1 to 2 thin layers (I generally use regular Seamoon). H3 really benefits from a bit of boosting (as most chinese rubbers), even though you got the 39 degrees version. Just don't overdo it.
If you are unsure, you can definitely try it unboosted; if you don't like it after a few sessions then take it off and boost it at that point.

Got my delivery box. And what inside?
Twenty two sheets of Donic and Xiom rubbers. Not one of them is Hurricane or K3 that I ordered 🤪

Use whatever blade you used until now. Speed is not an issue. Chinese kids play with normal 5 and 7 ply all wood and they're rapid.

Play it first with no booster, if you want more speed or feel like it's dead, put 2 layers. There's tons of tutorials, any of them will do.

As for what booster, seamoon is cheap, haifu national is expensive and not worth the extra money, plus if you buy the wrong one then it'll end up even worse, and the Chinese mainly use the Kailin booster.

Do what you want with this.

Peace✌️

My rule of thumb for boosting Blue Sponge H3N

39 deg 1-2 layers
40 deg 2 layers
41 deg 3 layers

I use the technique as follows (assuming 40 deg as that’s what i’m using)

Layer of booster (i use seamoon regular)
Wait for 8 hours
Layer of booster
Wait 8 hours
2 layers of glue
Stick on blade

I just slap on 3 layers of regular Seamoon to my 40 degrees. I apply each layer when the previous dries, so maybe 1 hour after the first layer and 2-3 hours after the 2nd, then wait till next day to glue. With just 2 layers I find it a bit hard to hit into the sponge when the incoming ball is slow.

Did you played with D09c previous to Hurricane? Does it take a lot of time to adapt?

Anyway I got 22 sheets of rubbers that I didn’t ordered - so nothing to boost for now and I don’t have any booster 🙄

We're doomed.

As soon as we apply the single layer and we recognize the difference, we've crossed the event horizon, the point of no return. Well, assuming the 2nd condition, the feeling of response from the chinesse dense sponge...

You see the dilemma, you say don't boost it's fine, but you know it's no; you say boost and the poor guy is lost for the rest of his life ;-)

Well, if someone likes gluing, it's a no brainer, but I don't. I hate this gradual degradation (a recurring theme these days) after 1 month, and then keeping it another month, until I finally give up and re-boost ang reglue...

Dooomed.

For myself, I have tried a club mates H3 40 boosted 3 times and it felt too soft for my liking on my forehand. It’s all down to personal preference however, you may like 3 layers and I like 2, so long as it brings out the best in our playing ability

Yup, played D09c. It doesn't take long to adapt, the two have similar characteristics. The H3 has a slightly lower throw. There were two main differences I noticed immediately, one is that with touch shots the H3 is significantly less bounce, two is that the sponge is less "reactive" when counter looping. That is, the ball doesn't shoot out as quickly so you don't eat the incoming spin as much and follows your racket movement more. Attacking slower balls however required more power, as it becomes very hard to hit into the sponge when the incoming ball is dead (especially against pips or anti players where the ball doesn't even have backspin).

I'm using Neo 40 BS on Viscaria SALC, I think blades mostly the same. And it's better to boost it with 2 layers of something like Falco. It will be amazing rubber for first month.

Yeah, agree. I do the same way.
Falco or Kailin is very nice boosters. Kailin dries faster. I love both, so recommend try it.

Btw, talking about differences between d09c and h3. They both powerful hard rubbers. And because h3 not crazy tacky anymore the difference even smaller. But, h3 is much linear with more gears. And yes, it’ll need some time to adapt to the low thro angle of h3. H3 likes full hand swing and body movement. Hard to play passively. But when adapted it becomes addictive to play with h3. So much fun to put tremendous amount of spin against backspin balls. Or play very short game. Its very hard to play with something else after h3. Of course different rubbers can have some benefits here and there. But h3 is a king. You will miss a lot of h3 if switching back to other rubbers.
