Start off with trying to have a resting position with the weight on your toes (so heel off from the ground). Then say you want to go right, you push off with your left leg and jump or hop. If you want to go to the left, then you push off with your right leg and jump or hop.

Then do a drill where you hit to your opponent's backhand only and he will hit one ball to your forehand (try to be as wide as possible) and then he will hit the next ball to your backhand (try to be as wide as possible). So you get to move side ways back and forth, back and forth.

If your partner cannot use his backhand to move you from side to side, then get a better training partner.

Keep on doing the drills over and over again.

Ohh, so footwork in this game is on your toes.
Thanks for the advise!
