Hello guys,

I want to change my blade with a slower, more controlable one. I currently play with Viscaria and T05 FH and T29 BH.
Half of the times, it is too much for me. To much speed, sometimes uncontrolable. I cannot feel the blade properly.

My game is focused close to mid distance of the table. Max 1,5 m.

I have hit with a TB ALC which has given me a lot of control and safety to put the ball on the table. Felt amazing, but i want even a slower one a bit.

Now do you think if I change to Harimoto ALC (slower than TB ALC) + D09c, will make my game more reliable ?

Will D09c add the extra speed, considering HALC is slower to reach almost the speed of viscaria !? I don’t want to lose a lot if speed, but I want ot controlable, reliable.

Any piece if informations is appreciated.

Thank you

yes, I think it will be slower and safer.

You could get a cheap inner ALC blade first to test it out if you want. Yinhe 05 is a great cheap option

Would you say that Harimoto Super ALC with D09c will be closer to my current setup ?
I don’t know to be honest. Havent played with either one. But it sounds like you like the way your current setup plays, but its too quick and you want something a bit slower. So I would either change only the blade or the rubber to not make the difference too great.

If you were to pick the Harimoto Innerforce ALC with D09C, now the setup might be too slow. Or lets say you were to go with the Harimoto Super ALC and D09C (which is a very different feel), you might not like it. And either way these blades are not cheap so it would be a costy bad buy.

If I had to recommend an option I would go for Timo Boll ZLF with your current rubbers (T05 & T25). If the ALC feels too fast, this is a great alternative. And its actually a blade Im currently looking at to buy myself. Because I liked my old Timo Boll Spirit, but I found it slightly too hard and and too stiff.

From what I can see in statistics, the diferences in speed, vibration, Viscaria and HSALC at not to far away, that’s why I opted out for the HALC. Paired with a hard rubber, makes me think I will have the proper feel.

Either way, I will try the setup and if it feels too slow, will trade my actual blade for the HSALC.

Might feel good or wrong. Either way, I will share the outcome here in a month!

Thank you

I did try exactly this. Viscaria felt good but slightly fast, got a Harimoto ALC after reading reviews and looking at numbers and... went back to my Viscaria after six months.
Why? Well, first of all the actual speed is about the same. Perhaps the HALC is slightly slower in the short game but that cant be by much. When hitting hard or looping fast I actually found the Harimoto slightly faster due to it being flexier. That also made it a bit easier to open up underspins with the forehand. But again, these things are really marginally different. The numbers are marketing.

What is different though is the feel and feedback the blades give while playing. And I wasn't patitent enough to get used to the HALC. Didn't like it as much as the Viscaria and since there were really no real benefits I sold it and welcomed my old friend back into the bat case.

Both blades are equally good but no one will win more games by switching from one to the other. EJing is fun though. :)
