Chen may be like 35+ but he is on the rise.........he will stare you down with that deer in the headlights look and you will falter because you are confused :p................. I really hope he comes to the U.S. Open this year like previous years..... he is like my Wild Card favorite player just because of his antics while playing.

also I think he had trouble because people make the mistake of hitting to Chen's forehand....and it is not a normal hit. it's like Chen stops his forehand stroke and every single one is like an inside out hit. it looks like he is attached to a rubber band and can't complete his hit everytime he swings his forehand it looks sooooooooooooo awkward.

Dang, this is quite a surprise..... Chen must really have been practicing a lot. For an chopper, his offensive is pretty good.

I haven't always really liked him, because his attitude is kind of wrong, and his movement is so not fluid.... but he still obviously is an effective player. I remember a few years ago when he randomly beat Wang Liqin, and I was like wtf?!?!??

Sorry to tell you guys but Chen's movement is flawless I play the same style and same paddle type(long pips BH and inverted pips FH).. It just looks weird to the traditional player because his chop BH has his left foot back and right foot forward. He is almost always in the right position for the next shot, and if that doesn't mean he has great footwork then I don't know what does! Great job Chen! :)

Chen Weixing was on fire!! It was like when I watched him come back like 5-10 in the 5th against Sharath Kamal. He just takes point after point. Sometimes, that forehand of his just turns the heat on and really takes away the opponents pace. Certainly, Timo didn't look like he was playing his best, but give credit to Chen for putting enough pressure to get Timo out of his comfort zone in the first place!
