Hong Kong Open 2019 - Have the top Chinese managed to tame Harimoto?

Lin Gaoyuan is crowned champion with a crushing 4-2 win over Tomokazu Harimoto!

The Chinese player continued his fine form off the back of the China Open last month with a run of good wins in Hong Kong.

After dispatching Ricardo Walther in the last 32, Lin took out some of his Chinese teammates including Ma Te, who had comfortably dispatched Liam Pitchford, Wang Chuqin (4-2) in the quarters, and the in-form Liang Jingkun (4-1) in the semi-finals before meeting the Japanese wonderkid in the final.

Harimoto had a much easier draw through to the semi finals with a win over Jon Persson in the last 32, before cruising through Quadri Aruna (4-0). He beat Mizutani 4-1 in the quarters before beating Chinese player Zhou Yu (4-1) in the semi-final on Saturday.

The final was an epic match with the Chinese player beating the wonderkid after being 2-1 down and fighting back to win the last three games to win the tournament.

Ma Long has shown that in recent matches he has been the one who Harimoto still cannot touch. Could Lin Gaoyuan have adopted the winning formula to defeat the young rising star?
