Hello Pimplers,

As you know I’m not a professional player. I’m more an enthusiastic that is so happy analysing pips players and learning from them.

However, recently I got the chance to be sponsored by a table tennis brand and, in stead of doing a simple unboxing, I decided to answer in a video the question: how to be sponsored in table tennis?

Maybe this information can be useful for some people that is looking for an sponsor and don’t know how it works.

All the bests.

Congratulations. The Q & A part was summed up pretty nicely, too. You indeed mentioned some important aspects here. As for the products: Sanwei does have some very interesting stuff (blades, rubbers, apparrels). I'm not particularly a fan of V-necks, but that white-red shirt really looks great.
Still, I'm a little confused. Did you really get six sheets of the OX rubber? OX last a long time and six sheets should actually last a few years...and do you plan to use the OX on the Froster? Not sure if that would be a good combo.

Congrats, to you, but white shirts???
You can’t play in them when using a white ball… That’s 99% of the time…

I wouldn’t even like my training partner wearing that color…

Cheers

Hello, thank you for your kind words. I didn’t think about the y-shirt, but you are right. I will for sure pass this idea to the company.

Best regards.

Hello, thank you very much for your appreciations. I really think the same that you connected to the material.

About the 6 OX sheet, for meet it is useful in the sense that I can use some of them for doing testing in different blades during the year for the YouTube channel.

And the combination Froster- DZ is something that I think will work. Parla is little bit slow, and this new generation of player as Indian ones are using all carbon blades and pips for making them real weapons. I will give a try, if not, I still having the Parla from the last time the sent me material as a support.

Congrats and I enjoyed the video.

I'm really impressed with Sanwei, I like how they engage with TT fans on this forum and them sponsoring non-professionals.

I'm definitely going to purchase some of their stuff in the near future.
Remember tu use DiegOX in the promo code for getting some discount 😁. And I agree with you, they are doing amazing and developing great material. I’m so happy with them

Yes, those shirts are illegal in match play with a white ball… but I give you they’re good looking.

it is also Uber cool that we have @Andrea Jiang here as a regular poster. Not sure what her position is with Sanwei, but must be some important role since she seems to be able to make company decisions.

The China brand with which we happened to get a sponsorship agreement, first gave us a request for a video presentatation. They kinda reluctant to distribute gratuitous products to casual players, seniors, etc. They are mostly interested to promote youngsters with a prominent playing potency.

In America a pretty decent player (2700+) wrote to a company for sponsorship and was told they only sponsored people who were top juniors or ranked 100th or better in the world. At the time, outside of the juniors, that meant they would only potentially sponsor 3 people in the USA. You couldn't even get a free t-shirt lol.

Hey Diego, nice video!

Can I ask a few questions?

Are you actually contracted by Sanwei for a length of time (1 year, 2 years etc)? Or is it a "rolling" contract they could stop at any time?

Do you get paid for it, or is your benefit the free kit?

You talk about "what you can offer to the brand", but (and I mean this in the nicest way possible), you do not seem to have a huge reach on YT or IG?

Both accounts were created in 2024 and your IG has 628 followers, with YT having 2.27K Subscribers.

When did Sanwei start sponsoring you, and what were your numbers like for them to send you things for free?

The reason I ask that, is because there are a lot of brands who operate on a "brand ambassador" type deals in social media - Free products for a few social media posts etc.

But the numbers are usually much higher (need 3K IG followers for example, and that's on the low end!)

Lastly, just to check.... Do you have any personal ties with Sanwei at all? Friends who work for them, you know the owner etc? 😂

I think your set up may work with the smaller brands in TT, but you'd be bang out of luck with people like Butterfly, DHS, Tibhar, Donic etc.

Congrats though - It was a great video to watch!

As far as I could see being sponsored by them, there is a team behind looking for the improvement of the players that have something for offering in terms of scope.

By the way, Andrea is not she is he 🤣

I think in general brands have this tendency to support young people because of the future projection. But also old people is being sponsored in Europe.

I think the most tournaments for not young people get internationally, the most they will be interested.

Just and example the past tournament in Rome. Many brands were there getting in contact with players. I have some Italian friends with more than 50 years old that got sponsored from there.

Well, about this punctual situation is difficult to give an opinion because I don’t know the context of how did he write and how the offer went. I know for some friends there that Joola is getting stronger and starting with some sponsors there.

Hi, thanks for all your questions. It is true that the timing in YouTube at the end gets short for the amount of information that can be shared.

About the contract, yes. I have a 3 years contract signed with them. In this period I have to use their material for competitions. But as influencer I can test, review and play (non official tournaments) with different brands.

The agreement does not include payment. Includes a yearly renew of material and personalised items and also the development of specific material for my improvement. On top of some comercial agreements as affiliate links and personal discounts for selling their material.

You are right, my channels are just starting. But some of my videos got already more than 30K views that is also attractive. Also, I think for brands it is also important the niche. Not every player is doing specific reviews on long pips ox. For sure this content will not have the scope of others, but the specific target is there.

This is why I also receive material for other brands as Victas, Yasaka, Dr. Neubauer and Sauer and Tröger. If they want transmit a message in a long pips community I’m the guy.

If you see other channels also it is interesting a marketing concept called efficiency. 20 videos and 2.5K followers shows the scope of each video is high than somebody sharing 200 for 2K.

And for the last, no I don’t know people from the brand, except the one which I have contact. But I met him through email when I started the channel and I showed him the potential of the project. Not friends or family in the company.

Regards.
