Hurricane Neo 3 quality control

To anyone that uses hurricane Neo 3, I’ve had a few hurricane rubbers with these finger print marks imprinted onto the rubber when I take the initial protector sheet off. On each occasion I then find the rubber isn’t as tacky as it should be (yes I’m aware Neo 3 is not as tacky as it use to be), but it can barely hold the protector sheet on and this is happening on multiple star national rubbers where you would expect quality control is the highest. You can see in the photos how the red side the protector sheet is stuck quite well but the black side it’s not stuck that well with the edges constantly coming off. To note these are from prott who I have contacted and they’ve mentioned these rubbers are known for poor quality control.

Has anyone else experienced this? Have I received fakes?

Why? You have quality issues, and you're literally buying into the most overpriced version of the same rubbers. Continuing to do so seems madness
In my experience the Yasaka and Butterfly rubbers I have are in fantastic condition considering their age and use. The same can't be said for the DHS and 729 rubbers I have which are 'blotchy' and look terrible, however they still seem to work OK, as I can't pick pick any change in performance.
I have a w968 and I’ve found it’s best suited with hurricane Neo 3 rubbers. I guess I could consider buying provincial version and simply bin the sheets with the QC problems.

If you are new to H3 buy the $33 Neo provincial one with orange sponge. Easier to break in with better feeling than blue sponge.

Appreciate the advice but I’m not new to H3 thanks. I was actually using the 42 hardness blue sponge for awhile but I don’t have the stamina of the pros who train many hours a day, I found after an hour session my game changed due to lack of stamina the 42 required so had to lower it down to blue sponge 40 hardness.

I see. If you have the fund yes the player version is the best. Much easier to access power and spin even compared to the National version.

I have used Hurricane for about 6-7 years now. I have never had finger print on the sheet already when it is fresh so I am not sure what the problem is.

I have used almost exclusively orange sponge commercial version for 3-4 years before switching to provincial blue sponge after the tackiness died down.

I have used two National version blue sponge but could not really tell much difference. I have one player's version from Prott as well but not using it right now as I am experimenting with different blades right now.

Maybe get a sheet of provincial blue sponge 40 degree and see how you like it.

In general, after a week or so, the top sheet of hurricane looks quite beat up but it does not affect the playing.

Hurricane is kind of an acquired taste. Once you are used to it, it is hard to find something else to replace it.

Good to know someone can tell there’s a difference. With your experience have you received the quality control issues I mentioned above?

Not exactly the same issue.

My BS provincial H3 showed skidding issue about 3 months after boosting. And I only played once a week!!

Yeah I’m going to stick to provincial moving forward if I need to go through sheets that fast + bin sheets with poor QC, Thanks all!

I have used around 10 provicincial regular H3 os (Not Neo) from TT11. They are all perfect. The reason for the air bubbles you have under the protector sheets atlet because TT11!s are quite stiff. I have those all the time. Just squeeze the sheets from the center outwards. If there is something wrong with your sheets I would think that Prott sells second sorted products, it wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Cheers

Yeah good call to be fair, I’ll order from table tennis 11 from now on, with the bulk discount doesn’t work out too bad the prices. Thanks!

I've been using commercial sheets so far, but I have to say the variation in quality is quite something. I have one sheet that's been used about 6 months is actually in better condition (spin/speed wise) than another that's been in use sparsely for a month or so.

Still, for any level between recreational and national leagues, commercial has what it takes.
