I did a Der Echte Beast mod on my blade

This user has no status.
Goal: a 160g blade for my Hardbat Build
Materials used:
Sanwei Defense Alpha(straight)
FZD alc fake handle bought off from a local e-commerce site(Flared)
Bunch of Small Rusty Nails
.5mm wenge ply
Wood Weld, Wood Glue
Small portable grinder
Putty Knife
Rubber mallet
4 glue sheets
729 Dr Evil
729 802 Legend Sp

Handle:

Blade (Around 84g without the handle):
photo_2024-12-28_00-02-35.jpg

What I did:
Removed the handle by wedging it in between the handle and slowly hammer it down till it loosens off
Made 4 cut outs of the handle from the wenge sheet. attached 2 on one side for now using wood glue
added in the rusty nails in the hollow part of the handle and overflowed it with wood glue
added in the other 2 cut outs on top of the remaining side.
Grinded the sides of the blade for a smooth cut
added glue to the Fzd handle and clamped it down

1 min video summary:

next I added in 2 glue sheets on one side hoping it would bump up the weight

1 min video summary:

The Result:
photo_2024-12-28_00-02-33.jpg

120g without rubbers
156g with 4 gluesheets and 2 SP OX
So yeah I'm way off my goal

@Der_Echte just a few questions :)
Instead of small nails, what else could I have used to bump up more weight?
In the next mod, I plan to change a penhold cs handle to a straight handle.
would using epoxy mold putty be a good a idea to add in the missing gap?

Thanks :D

lead shot is much heavier than rusty nails. Get the smallest balls you can get then you will have filled virtually the whole cavity with solid lead

Lead tape used for golf clubs and tennis rackets can be cut to shape to fill up space

Lead fishing weights are easy to find

As above lead tape is pretty heavy - even better is tungsten powder - I bought a load to use in golf club weighting years ago - it's quite a bit (I want to say about 70%...) heavier than lead so you can use less by volume for the same weight gain.

Lead is pretty easy to find too... the issue would be to get it to fit in the space and be able to put some glue around the filling to solidify it inside the handle piece.

That issue might be addressed by hammering the lead into the size and shape you want.

Another thing to consider is to ENLARGE the hollow space in the handles a little more... that will let you put a little more metal and glue into the handle pieces.

I liked little tiny nails as they fit into the handle pieces AND were easy to layer in with hide glue... that ensured a solid job.

So what if you were of the exact weight of the goal... I would believe that mod makes you bat much easier to use your wrist... and also be more solid blocking over stock. just a guess.
My usual blade weight is 92g
with SPs, it goes up to 160g, which is a sweet spot for me.
I'm just trying to get that sweet spot with this one.

---------NEW Project------------
Turning a CS Penhold blade to a straight handle blade
Handle: Sanwei Defense Alpha (Straight handle)
Blade: Loki Rxton 9 Pro (CS penhold)
Goal: To try the Mod as is with 2 Inverted Rubber

Will try and check if I can fit in lead tape if not, I still have a lot of those rusty nails.
Will use wood putty for easier grinding for a smoother finish.

What can I do to fill in the missing gap below? as of now, Epoxy Putty is all I can see as a solution.

why not glue in a piece of wood ? Any wood will do, balsa would be the easiest , i would paint it black with a felt pen then lacquer it a bit

Why balsa? You're trying to make it heavy at the handle... Fill it in with a block of metal
He he he I thought we were on mode 2 now, a completely different program.

Mode 3 will probably be a handle carved from lead completely.

Mode 4 is actually already on sale, a blade completely made from stainless steel.

Those steel blades were (are?) used to practice topspin swings and train power. One of the senior guys used it a lot when I was young, he got some ruthless topspin training
