I have been playing for almost a year and when I first got into table tennis one of my seniors gave me an all wood blade with tenergy 05 and dignics 09c before that I was using a recreational racket. my coach has been teaching me with this set up and he told me to get fanzhendong super zlc ( cs because I play penhold ) and without questioning anything I ordered it and it arrives on December I also ordered h3 neo blue sponge (provincial) and a new sheet of 09c. I recently talked to another coach and he told me not to use the setup I ordered for now because it would be too fast for me.
iv been playing with fast rubbers and it does not feel like it is affecting me. I really want to improve so I'm thinking of just getting cheap slow rubbers for now but Im so used to tenergy and dignics it feels so off while using slower rubbers.

( I am currently using a shakehand blade as a penhold blade because I could not find a good all wood cs blade )

if you're being coached a fast blade would still be fine to use, esp when you're using cheapo chinese rubbers

ofc the best way to learn would be to use a slower setup, a decent allwood blade with a pair of decent rubbers would be good enough, but if you've already brought a new toy to play why not stick to it?

if it is too fast you still have your old setup to go back to

the last thing you would want to do is to waste more money buying a new slow blade you will outgrow in a short period of time

Switch and don't listen to anyone per se. If you are training and getting coaching, then the hours you put in and your willingness to master the blade are thr most important things. The blade might be too fast for you but that is about feeling ans preference and not about your experience or playing level. After all, there are pros who might find a Lin Yun Jun SZLC too fast but then there is Lin himself. Use the blade and if you don't like it, you don't like it. It isn't always about playing level.

You are playing since 1-3 years ( probably 1-3 times a week for 2 hours and not enormously talented) and you use a blade that 95% of pros (who played tt for 15-30 years, every day for 4-6 hours and are the most talented players in the world) consider to be too fast for them.
Is that enough of an answer?

He says he's been playing for almost a year. So 0-1 years.

How do you feel about your coach? Does he sell you the blade and make money from it?

The one good thing about buying super high end new blades is, when you realize it is not for you some other sucker will buy for not much less than you paid.

Try the szlc. Maybe you like it, who knows right?

Be careful with it. Get a nice thick edge tape. If you don't like, sell it on. Not a huge deal.

Use the experience to decide if you want to change coaches or not. Coach [and your relationship with him] is 100x as important for you as blade/rubbers/anything else. You could literally get good using any setup at all. But if you don't trust your coach it will be difficult to progress.

no he does not sell me anything. it feels like he is not interested in teaching me anymore because he wanted me to use lps for my rpb but I told him I did not want to use pips out so I'm trying to find another coach but I really like this coach and don't want to switch he just has a fragile ego. I also know players that started with zhang jike super zlc as their first blade

I really don't know if I find it too fast because in the whole time I have been playing this sport, I have only used either super ZLC, innerforce zlc or wood blades and don't find either of them that hard to use. I used the zhang jike super zlc and innerforce zlc and they really seemed to click well with me
Yeah, I don't play often, but I do get regular training three times a week with a coach, and I'm thinking of getting training daily. I also do need to focus on my education rn.

just use any sidetape your hands can get on if you rly want it

they're all the same....... even a cheapo chinese brand sidetape will work well

for me i dont use sidetape and i dont care that much about my blade hitting the table

Why suggest/buy such an expensive blade to test if you like it or not? Plenty of Chinese zlc blades under $100 you could’ve bought, and not lost your head. Albeit it might’ve been harder to sell later if you didn’t like it. All that said, use what you’re comfortable with or go to that other club lol.

well zlc does feel really different to super zlc (in my opinion) but I have only played with innerforce zlc before and it felt more like a defensive blade to me

I can change my fzd szlc for hurricane long V should I do that or not? my coach was telling me to get this one too. I don't have a playing style yet so I really don't know anything what I should get.
Maybe ask your coach "why do you think this is a good blade for me?" because he's now suggested a couple of quite different, expensive blades and it's confusing.

the hurricane he brings up as a joke. but he recommended me to use super zlc because I'm learning the same style as what he plays. he just wants me to play the same as him but I did not want to use lps and now he asked me not to bother him.

Sounds like a d*ck. He's asking you to spend money to play like him against your own wish. I don't know how that works in your culture but over here a coach would not get work behaving this way.
