Hi everyone,

Was looking at the ultimate single ply hinoki (檜単板) jpen blade by Kokutaku, 尾州No.1 超スーパー超特選『極』(translated as Bishuu No.1 Chou Super Chou Tokusen "Kiwami") on their official website and noticed they offer square (角/kaku) and square round (角丸/kakumaru) shapes but note only one set of dimensions for the blade (167mm x 135mm).

I emailed them and they confirmed the sizes:
Square is 167mm x 135mm.
Square Round is 163mm x 142mm.

I mention this because tt-japan are selling the same blade for almost 10000 yen cheaper right now (23200 vs 33000) but I couldn't find the dimensions anywhere so this is for anyone else that's curious to know. Kokutaku also said they can make a larger size for you via special order if you want.

As I had played Jpen (Darker Speed 90) for a few years, I mentioned the dimension is the least of your worry. Assuming you are playing with one rubber, all Jpen's balance point is closer to your palm than many shakehand. So it's a balanced set up. If you prefer head-heavy setup, simply get heavier rubber or glue a small piece of rubber on the backside near the head.

I would recommend you to look into Yasaka Hasha V (back in 2000s it was almost as good as the legendary Darker Speed 90):

For 9600 yen it's a much better deal.

I'm using two sides, but yeah hasha V seems nice too. Is there any reason it shows up as 10560 yen for me? I'm guessing mine is somehow adding tax while yours isn't?

That's interesting. I don't know sorry.

Two-sided could be head heavy for Hasha V. If you attack aggressively, you will like it.
