Hey All!

I'm looking for a setup with no trampoline effect/ gears / variables.
I basically don't want my ball to accelerate way more than I put power into it (linear power, i guess?)
i bought my first raquet after few years ( Applegrenn Allplay with Mark V max and Yinhe 9000e) and even after month I still feel its to bouncy or not linear enough.

I ordered 729 Friendship Super FX 1.5 mm to replace the mark V since the Backhand feels OK to me.

Any players here that have recommendations for more linear feel?

Thanks in advance.

Stay with all wood and Chinese or old school rubbers

can i still play top spin heavy loop with that? Never used anti spin technology.
Nope, with antis, you give up your looping ability. The law of physics is fair, you cannot have everything.

Those rubbers are pretty linear, but the blade is quite flexy and has quite a bit of a kick. I wonder if that's what you're experiencing?
I hope i know more after installing the 15mm rubber where the mark V max is right now. Im having difficulties to find out what the problem is, and my first guess was the max sponge. More flex means more gears?

Apparently you can get some topspin action on anti.

I havent got the chance to try mine out yet but from these videos it appears to be possible.

This is about as linear as it gets tbh. The only thing you can change is the Super FX. You could buy the Yinhe Mercury II medium for even more linearity, but I think it defeats the purpose. You should learn how to control the racket you already have, since this is the moment where the influence of your equipment on your play matters less than your technique.

If you like how pre-made bats play, you can try making one. Simply get something from the starter ranges like Joola Vizon for example. Hardly any speed, bounce or spin sensitivity there.
If you want to go a very slight step up, Donic Vario, Tibhar Vari Spin, learner rubbers.
Only after those would you move to Mark V or Sriver in the old days. All of this is before Tensor was a thing, and in 38mm celluloid ball era.

Today, I would stick to the advice of getting more hours in. Bounce a ball 100 times with it at home, bounce against the wall, that kinda stuff. It sounds like you need to develop some feeling and confidence in your setup.

Thank you for all the suggestions!
I will update how the 1.5mm rubber affect my feeling and play.
I just loved the freedom i had in body movement with cheap raquets. The spin from the current setup is just amazing. I never had any power issues, and the club i play in compliment the power in my forehand, so I never feel like I'm missing speed.
powerful topspin loops fly over the table when I'm close.
Endless topspin loops which more experienced players are not a problem.

The 15mm let me feel the wood and vibration of the wood which feels really nice. I can now easily tell when I hit the sweetspot and when not.

But otherwise nothing changed haha.
Speed still feels the same, but I have read that the rubber might need to “break in” and could change after a few days.

When they glued the new rubber to my blade, i used a cheaper premade paddle and I had so much more fun after I got used to the slow speed.

So bottom line so far it seems to be I have more fun with premade racquets than with the higher level stuff. And fun is all i wanna have.

If they were only a bit more spinny and the rubber last longer...
Paddle they gave me was a used TTR100 form decathlon 😅

UPDATE:
I played the Treiber Z with two sides Tenergy 05 of a club member and the speed was maybe 10% more, if even. It was for sure more bouncy, but smashes landed easier.
The applegren allplay seems to be way faster than I expected.
With the right technique the Tenergy 05 setup will be a lot faster, so perhaps you're not really looping the ball but hitting mostly flat?

The extra spin that you get on the Tenergy 05 setup is what makes your 'hits' land easier... even a little topspin curves the ball down on the table.

Can you elaborate on that?

wouldn't that suggest that I'm not flat hitting?

Im not really versed in the TT lingua yet haha

When the ball sinks into the sponge the rubber is loaded, and much more if it is with an angle, The ball wiil shoot out like from a canon. This is why T05 was so popular. But to get this effect You need to be skilled and hit the ball with a closed angle and let it dig into the sponge sideways. With a flat hit you will never get this effect. The downside of this rubber is that it is very sensitive to incoming spin and pushing may be a nightmare....

I used to play with T05, but due to sensitivity I lost much more than I gained, but I really miss firing those canon balls.
This I can't do with my current rubber but the slow game is now rock stable...

Cheers
