Looking for Opportunities to practise/play in Tokyo, Japan in Oct

Hey Guys!

I will be visiting Tokyo from Oct 7th to Oct 27th and I am looking for people and places to practise/play with/at. Since our season in Germany begins in Sep already and I need to stay in shape for my team, I would love to at least train once a week while I´m there.
I´m perfectly fine with match-practise against multiple opponents instead of drills.

My level is around 1900TTR in Germany.

I hope some of you have some ideas haha!

I´m open for all kinds of suggestions.

Peace!

That sounds nice! What kind of group is it? And when do you usually practise?
Our team is JPG TTTC comprised mostly of foreigners. We practice mainly in central Tokyo. One of the most convenient venues is Minato Sports Center near JR Tamachi as it’s open almost everyday all day long.

Btw there are always tournaments going on in Tokyo. You can consult nocha.jp . There are many formats : team , singles , doubles, pairs etc.. in KO format or mini league format or league + KO or round-robin etc

Usually you have to register a few weeks in advance

That venue looks cool! How much does it cost to play there? When i went to Tokyo 6 years ago i was really close when I went to visit the tower. but that was before i started playing table tennis again.

for non-regulars the cost is 800 yens

its valid for the whole day, you can have access to the whole facility, it includes a modern gym, the swimming pool + jacuzzi, the badminton courts, the main arena (basketball etc)

they will also allow you to go out for a short time if you need to buy food

No such monthly membership system. If you work or live in Minato-ku you can get in for 500 yens.

Basically it’s a public facility. It’s cheap because I pay a lot of taxes 😂
It’s just the entrance fee. There’s no coach for this price although some staff can occasionally play with you.

There are some slots for group lessons but it’s during day time and I’ve mostly seen group of old ladies or group of teenagers. There is an extra fee and it must be not too expensive

Btw Japan is much cheaper than US . It’s in great part a reflection of the very weak JPY exchange rate, and the crazier US inflation rates

For locals 800 yens is a lot
