3rd place match: 14:30pm	Ma Long 4-2 Simon Gauzy
Final: 15.30pm	Timo Boll 2-4 Dimitrij Ovtcharov

This years Men's World cup will be held in Liege, Belgium from the 20th October to 22nd 2017. World and Olympic Champion Ma Long has confirmed his participation as the number 1 seed. Dimitirj Ovtcharov comes in as seed 2, followed by Jun Mizutani and then Timo Boll. Could we see young in form Lin Guoyuan recent victor of the Austrian Open take out the top guns in this prestigious event.

Because the World Cup always includes at least one player from each Continental region. Hence one North American, one South American, and one from Australia/Oceania and in this case two from Africa (who are actually good players). The tournament has always been set up that way.

Kanak Jha won the North American Cup as David Powell won the Oceania Cup as Tsuboi won the Latin American Cup as Aruna won the African Cup. Harimoto did not play the Asian Cup where Mizutani and Niwa played and while he could have gotten a special invite, I suspect the Belgians gave that to Nuytinck.

He got the ITTF's wildcard. I was probably thinking about the host's selection. But it is interesting that the ITTF went that route - I guess the country limits may have played a factor.

Because LGY won the Asian Cup, which is the continental qualifier. Since China already had the World Champion, the only way FZD goes is if Ma Long withdraws. He is the automatic replacement if that happens since he came second in the Asian Cup.

I will be in the Training Hall from Wednesday to Sunday with my 3 caméras to record as much as possible (Training Session, Backstage). I will try to do the same as I did at the Legends Tour 2016 with higher quality.

When did they change the "only 2 from each country" rule? I remember 2005 when Boll played Ma Lin, Wang Liqin and Wang Hao

World cup term is misleading in my opinion. ITTF world tour events are much tougher to win as far as lineup is concerned. They should rename this to inter-continental cup or something. "World" should be used only for world champs.
