Mizutani ZLC or Viscaria

Hello everyone,

Recently, I lost in the third round of a tournament. I’m currently using a Butterfly Ovtcharov ALC G1 with 2.0mm Glayzer 05 on the forehand and backhand. I'm good at blocking and backhand loops and smashes, but many of my blocks and backhand smashes miss the table by just an inch. My current setup feels heavy (187g) during transitions.

I’m considering purchasing a Viscaria with Dignics 05 for the forehand and Dignics 64 for the backhand, as I enjoyed playing with my friend's Viscaria that had Tenergy 05 and D64. However, I'm also planning to buy the Mizutani ZLC with the same Dignics rubbers, but I'm unsure whether to choose the Mizutani ZLC or the Viscaria.

Before making such a significant investment, I would appreciate your suggestions. I'm 39 years old and looking to improve my game. Thank you!

Both are outer carbon blade so even if there are differences, it will be minor between each other. Having said that, I just tried my club-mate Mizutani ALC during the weekend and I love it a lot. The blade has Donic Bluefire M2 on the FH side. I also recall a long time ago, I tried another club-mate Viscaria with T05 / Rozena combo. I also like it a lot.

If you need to split hair and force me to choose, I'll go with Mizutani.

You say you're good at blocking and backhand loops and smashes but many of them miss the table... That's a bit contradictory to me, you're either good or you miss the table.
Have you changed equipment recently that has led to you now missing or what do you mean?
What particular type of shots do you struggle to block and what shot exactly do you mean by backhand smash?

If you can't control Glayser 05 on your Ovtcharov I'd suggest you need to either practice hard on your technique with the current setup or possibly consider a blade with less speed and more feeling in which case a Viscaria (very similar to the Ovtcharov) and the Mizutani isn't likely to help.
From having had similar issues in the past it maybe sounds like too fast equipment and not enough practice.

In any case I don't think the answer lies in spending lots of money on a different new, faster blades and rubbers. You'll may end up lost if you already don't control your current setup.

I'd spend the money on coaching to get the current setup working better before considering any new equipment.
Just my 2c
