Nexy Akrasia

Hi Raja!
You may want to test your new blade in a match or play with it for a month to really evaluate how the new blade helps you in your game. I made a mistake of buying a fast blade before, Gergely Alpha, which I sold the day after, haha. (But then again, you are accustomed to fast blades).

At first, new blades will feel like the perfect setup, and it makes sense, because they allow you to play a different kind of game, loops may become faster and spinnier, control may have gotten higher, but I think all of these are due to the new sensation of wielding a new blade. In time, you can really know if it has bettered or worsened your game. But hey, gotta enjoy such fine blade! :)

Haha as we psychology majors say "First impression lasts" and this one feels different from my other blades. Been playing with this beast for 4 days, 6 hours a day and I can say that it really suits me.

and also accustomed to fast blades and composites I quickly adjusted with the blade. In my first match with Akrasia I didn't tell my teammate that I was using a different blade hehe. He thought I was still using Viscaria. My serves were tight and short my forehand and flicks were spinnier. My attacks that he can normally block were all flying. the ball is really spinny and sharp I even found myself dumbfounded when I executed my first attack with this blade pretty amazing :)

With all this talk about looping and counter-looping along with blocks, something is missing...lol How good is this Akrasia blade as far as chopping especially in the short game?

It works wonders it is very easy to nullify backspin serve and drop it. even the pushes are loaded with heavy spin deceptively looking that it has no spin.

I am not a high level player either. And smart players disagree all the time on what is a good way to learn the sport and what the optimal technique/approach is. Some people want to focus on Ma Long's technique because is the World #1, while other people want to understand why Marcos Freitas got to the top 10 despite coming from Portugal with little TT history and others want to understand why William Henzell could challenge Wang Liqin despite having a far inferior TT background and less athleticism, and some would prefer the He Zhi Wen model because he is still world class in his 50s.
It all depends on how you look at the question sometimes. And that biases how we answer it a little.

And this is why Wong Chun Ting is more realisticly close to a penholder like me (and probably a lot of others like me) than Xu Xin or He Zhi Wen. Mainly due the fact WCT uses regular inverted on both sides, while Xu Xin has chinese national on fh and HZW pimples out. Which makes the technique of Wong more realistic to my fh than the two others. Though all obviously vastly superior to me lol.

Also, same with me in regards to coaching. Closest club is an hour+ away. But I've been to a club nearby my uncles (3 hour away from where I live). I now know a bit better where I'd be if I'd be competing in the Norwegian Cup. (Though I didn't recieve much coaching there so far, just drills and matches.)
Asumably lower half of third division.. (3 higher and goes to fifth) lol. But yea, Makes great insight to play against better players indeed.

I am a bit jealous, sometimes I wish I was born in a different country where there are many clubs. The clubs in our region is like 2 hours and 4 hours away. Travelling is really exhausting.

RajaLoopah,what weight is your Akrasia?
I was testing the Akrasia together with the.Zealot when they just came out,and I must say,my impression is quite different.I found the akrasia having more control, plenty of dwell and quite easy to play with, compared to the Zealot.maybe its because I chose the heaviest blade available, that the carbon effect got dampened?

Back then your strokes were good. I'd imagine your strokes are not that different.

But, one thing I see is, the ratio of spin to speed on your shots is much more on the speed side so your loops don't have much arc to them. At least in those videos.

There are two results to this. Sometimes when you blast the ball it goes right past your opponent. And sometimes it goes long or touches the net because of the flat trajectory.

However, if you had something a bit slower with a bit more spin, you may end up spinning your opponent off the table instead of blasting it past him.

Dave Fernandez is a player who was, at one point, 2600. When he was at his best he played Werner Schlager and came close to beating him. So, he could have been better than he was. But....he became an adult, got a job and pretty much stopped playing TT.

One of his coaches used to make him play matches where, if his loops didn't have so much spin that his opponent missed long when they tried to block or counter his loops, he lost the point!!!! It made him work on spin more. Which made his level go higher.

I think I get why NextLevel is saying you may get better results and your level may go up if you used a slightly slower blade.

But, it is true, it is awfully fun to blast the ball.

Man it is rough to see the ball in that vid !! Light not very good for TT - there is TOO MUCH light in the wrong places and it is reflected by everything.

With Akrasia, you have to hit the ball more solidly to make everything work with control and spin. The shots you make with a blade that has more dwell will not be so easy to do with Akrasia... and I am saying this as the President of the US distributor of the brand that makes this thing. Akrasia is great for those Korean style players who like to hit through everything with a FH and punch on BH, perfect blade for that, even better than the Schlager Carbon screamer that seemed to be number one bestseller among amatures my whole 4 years in Korea.

Weight, I am hovering around 100 KG if you missed the Der_Echte NYC pics a few months back, so don't use weight as a reason why you cannot move, I will out hustle many players at 100 KG.

Mine weighs 86 grams :)
I also feel the same way that it has
plenty of control and dwell time.

the president of the school won't give us a room
specially for the table.

Na Raja, it isn't that the room space is bad, it is just that the direct light is too strong, it also reflects off everything and the side light is also hurting. Floor and table and side are confusing the light. You almost have to have on white light filter to see in there worth a lick.

I get it, you deal with what you got if it is all you got and like it, what else is there to do if you cannot make a better condition?

Your Game

Here it is NL I am the one in neon.
My last game for this day :D

I think your game is pretty good, only thing I see as far as improvement is your stance. You start low which is great and then you stand straight which throws off your balance. It's best to stay low. You sold me on the blade, I like it. I'm going to eventually obtain one, once my rubber on current blade runs it's course.
