Hina Hayata H2 review
I’ve used this blade for 3 consecutive training sessions now, total ov 7.5 hours over the last three days.
I consider myself a fast two winged looper, aggressive, 3rd ball attacker. Playstyle influences are CNT;
Ma Long, Fan Zhendong and Lin Shidong.
I’ll mainly compare the H2 to my two most used setups:
Viscaria and Fan Zhendong ALC.
All three blades have the same setup:
FH: H3N, BS prov, boosted with 3 layers Haifu Black.
H2 and FZALC is 39°, Viscaria is 40°.
BH: Dignics 09c max.
Glued with 2 layer DHS No15 on rubber and two layers on blade.
FZD ALC feels a little softer and slower than Viscaria, but for the sake of easy reading I’ll refer to the both Viscaria and Fan Zhendong as Vis in this review.
Looping:
Looping with Limba is king, lots of feel and safety, very easy to loop and add sidespin.
H2 looping is AMAZING. Best I’ve ever tried.
Slow and spinny is EASY.
Opps say I have more sidespin in addition to topspin than when using Vis, where the boll kicks forward more, probably due to higher inherent speed.
Looping with Vis is ”straighter” and faster, but when backing from table there isn’t a big difference in power, H2 feels safer, Vis arc is lower and tighter. Smaller margin for error.
Both are great for close/mid distance looping.
Blocking:
We know outer ALC is special for blocking, Vis has a feeling of precision and laser-like focus. A fast, medium-low arc that’s safe and dangerous when done right. Like a F1 car thru a corner.
H2 blocking is controlled, and smooth, but perhaps isn’t deadly as Viscaria. You can however add your own power and spin, you’re free so to so if you have the time due to great hold on the H2.
But it wont be as dangerous by default. It will be safe. Very solid blocking tho!
Vibration feedback is perfect, you get more info than with vis, but H2 still feels powerful and solid. I’ve never felt an inner force type blade that has such solid feeling.
Serves:
Serves feels very good and safe to execute, better than Vis.
Easy to put lots of spin and keep low over the net. My placement, especially tight side angle has improved a lot with this blade.
Opponents say my serves and wobble in the air with H2.
Close game:
Close game is great. Woody feeling, not very bouncy = great. Low over the net is easy.
Short pushes are like a dream, take the ball early and soft, and it will stay very short, loaded with backspin.
Vis is bouncier, which I feel I can use for attacking with FH flick when opp screws up, but I also feel with Vis that I screw up more easy, and give Opp a high ball instead.
H2 long push/chopping long has a special ”floaty” arch, that flies straight over the net safely, then dips hard. Don’t know if it’s good or bad, but it’s easy to perform.
Both forehand and backhand flicks are very good, it grips and holds the ball very nicely, and again, that feeling of extra hold makes it very easy to flick the ball where you want.
Vis flicks are also very good of course, but I feel like a perfect Vis flick is almost more a ”snap”, it’s very fast!
H2 flicks can be fast, but are rather spinny and controlled. BH flcisk are definately easier to perform on H2!
I had more luck with forehand flicks on Vis than H2, I think that is due to H2 being more head heavy, and my shoulders not being strong enough. It’s a little harder to perform with h2.
H2 has very, very, VERY smooth gears, with Vis there’s like a distinct power threshold when switching between shots; going from push to loop require precision in angle, amount of brushing, power, and footwork to get it right.
It feels like the carbon layer in Vis can be hard to activate in slower shots, especially when paired either harder rubbers, but when it kicks in it kicks in!
H2 is smooth, very linear! Going from push to low-medium and high power shots don’t require the same consideration. But you always feel like you have time to add extra spin and direction, the extra hold let you do that.
Flat hits are possible! A lot easier than Vis. (Considering my rubber setup)
Hard shots and hitting thru spin is very easy. If you can use your body for power, this blade can hit very hard, the extra power there to use when you want.
And the sound is amazing, loud and crisp!
H2 Campared to other inerforce blades:
Long 5:
Faster, sharper, both have good feeling. H2 feels smoother.
BTY Innerforce:
Innerforce feel hollow and slow. No good feeling, not solid feel.
Cybershape Carbon:
A lot diffrent, cybershape feels mushy in comparison. H2 has solidity and body. Also smoother. Cybershape feels empty in comparison.
Handle:
Handle is closer to Viscaria = good. A little longer, but I prefer viscaria/BTY handle to DHS.
Wings are a little longer than preferred, but not bad. A little sharp also, but easy to sand.
H2 is def head heavy. Probably due to 158mm width.
In conclusion, this is truly a very very good blade, it probably will be my main blade, as it has all aspects I need and want. The smoothness make it easy to perform any shot, it has real power to unlock with complete use of body, the feeling is just amazing.
Vis/FZD style blades are inherently more direct and fast, in a good way. But for me, I land more shots, with more spin and confidence than before. I feel like a have less limitation with H2,, if I need a powerful winner, i’ll just hit harder.
I really think more people should try this blade.
