Whilst trying to find a way to watch some of the matches from the Euro team championships I came across this video:
Am I missing something here? Surely this isn't ok?
Am I missing something here? Surely this isn't ok?
which part is not ok ????Surely this isn't ok?
This is a real interesting comment because about an hour ago I was watching some great TT action ,WTT Youth Contender Batumi 2023.don't understand why table tennis is a dying sport and why more women or Juniors don't play it"
Yan Yuan:
Yan Yuan asked about perfect virtue. The Master said, "To subdue one's self and return to propriety, is perfect virtue. If a man can for one day subdue himself and return to propriety, all under heaven will ascribe perfect virtue to him. Is the practice of perfect virtue from a man himself, or is it from others?" Yan Yuan said, "I beg to ask the steps of that process." The Master replied, "Look not at what is contrary to propriety; listen not to what is contrary to propriety; speak not what is contrary to propriety; make no movement which is contrary to propriety." Yan Yuan then said, "Though I am deficient in intelligence and vigor, I will make it my business to practice this lesson."
She is a fashion statement... with radioactive rubber and a slit in the skirt. Nothing wrong at allWhilst trying to find a way to watch some of the matches from the Euro team championships I came across this video:

You'll always see players get to that level though, which doesn't really give a clear picture of the sport as a whole. This is a real interesting comment because about an hour ago I was watching some great TT action ,WTT Youth Contender Batumi 2023.
They had boys and girls barely teen-aged and some were playing real
good table tennis strokes and I was thinking that here is the future of this sport right in front of my eyes.
It is not popular in Western societies to say the quiet part out loud. The British especially and to a lesser but growing degree America are very prudish parts under religion and parts under feminism of a certain kind which makes you believe that before modern times, all women were slaves and property. You can post the video because the lady is pretty and everyone will know that part of the reason the lady is popular is because she is pretty but you shouldn't say that the reason you are posting the video is because the lady is pretty. Such direct references are considered vulgar. It is objectifying the woman to find her pretty. She is a fashion statement... with radioactive rubber and a slit in the skirt. Nothing wrong at all

By the way, the title has been fixed.

How does it feel locally?
Certainly in the UK, the numbers are struggling.
Lack of facilities, lack of coaching, lack of interest, lack of money.....
Leagues have gone from 6 or 7 divisions to 2 or 3 over the years.
I see "official" statistics and reports saying the sport is doing well etc, but I just wonder how many people are playing "seriously" vs picking up a bat at a pub, shopping centre or garden.
One of the local clubs near me had a women's day yesterday with a really good turn out - from all ages and levels.
Then you get this from the ETTU. Pointless content and embarrassing that at senior levels of the sport think this is ok.
Good they have changed the title - but why not delete it!
In terms of the UK we have stayed at 4 divisions for a while but there is a lack of new faces
definitely an amateur content manager
if TT was a major sport in Europe, this would be in the news and someone needs to apologies.
But since TT is non existence, it will just be dust under the carpet, just like all those mediocre umpiring decisions or other administration issues. No one will take ownership to make TT because a 5 star sport. It is okay to be "hobby" / "games" / "recreational".
The ETTU content manager should be fired.
This day and age, it should be common sense.I would go so far as to say someone should be fired - but certainly educated on why that isn't ok.
This day and age, it should be common sense.
Spanish Football boss should be fired too.
There are things, you just don't do, it isn't the 90s or 80s or 50s any more.
I can be guessing now, but i'm sure you will agree there is good enough guesstimate for me to say that, what happens in the bottom, shows you the culture behind the scenes.Agreed, it should be common sense - but I imagine the difference in experience between the head of the Spanish FA and social media person at ETTU would be massive. They maybe very junior or inexperienced - has it been through the right signoff stages? If someone high up has been involved they should be accountable.

TT needs to show its class, and not just a basement sport.
In Taiwan, a young man took table tennis out of the basement over a decade or so ago.
basically TT needs space, and space in Taiwan was expensive, so all previous (amateur) clubs hired basements.
The air, dampness was terrible and it only attracted old people.
So this young man, rented space in "above basement" floors. He rented space in the upmarket suburbs, near schools.
He was the pioneer to say, TT is good for kids and he targeted the student market.
After a few years later, he opened quite a few branches and made an environment where parents want to send their kids.
Those basement clubs, was only old people - and members got older and older.
The young man's club has life, has vitality, because he saw there is a problem and from any problems, you can find opportunities.
Taiwan is way ahead of any European country when it comes to school kids and table tennis.
And these improvements was not by the national federation or national players, but with individuals who want to uplift the image of the sport from basement to tier 1 status.
The same goal should be in the eyes on people who can make influence in this ETTU organization imo.
