Ordering Chinese market equipment from Gan on Taobao - My Experience from Europe

Hi everyone !

I wanted to share my experience for ordering table tennis equipment directly from China using Superbuy as a proxy service for Taobao. This guide focuses specifically on purchasing from our great Gan (https://www.youtube.com/@tabletennisgan7584/videos) who sells products only available in the Chinese market or items that are significantly cheaper than what we pay in Europe and other Western countries.

What I Ordered

I recently purchased "Pin yi" rubbers which are impossible to find in Europe. I'll post a detailed review soon, but I can already say the quality-to-price ratio is absolutely phenomenal compared to what we typically pay in Western markets.

How Superbuy Works

Superbuy is an agent (or proxy) that allows you to order products exclusively sold in China. The concept is simple: almost everything is sold on Taobao. You paste the Taobao product link into Superbuy, add it to your cart, and order through Superbuy. The product ships to their warehouses, and they forward it to your address.

Complete Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Create a Superbuy Account

This is straightforward - simply visit superbuy.com and create an account.

Step 2: Find Products (Three Methods)

This is the trickiest part since you'll need to access Taobao (China's largest online marketplace). Getting a Taobao account with a non-Chinese phone number has become quite complicated, so here are three techniques:

Option 1: Create a Taobao account (complicated) I created my account using a phone number obtained through the OnOff app. The problem is that these numbers are quickly blocked by Taobao, and if you don't use a Chinese VPN, you'll constantly face verification challenges. However, this is the best option for searching products. To get the right search queries, I recommend using an LLM like Qwen or Deepseek to translate from English to Chinese.

Option 2: Access through Alipay (easier) Anyone who has visited China likely has this app. Taobao is directly accessible within it, and Alipay's translation feature works well and makes navigation easier. For product searches, I also recommend using an LLM, but to save time, I can provide some directly translated queries if needed.

Option 3: Direct links (simplest) :

Gan's shop: https://www.superbuy.com/en/page/shop/shop/?shopid=118635088&platform=TB&sellerOpenId=

You can also make requests in the comments, and I'll try to provide links when possible.

Step 3: Placing your order

Once you've added your desired product to your cart, you simply place your order through Superbuy. Initially, you'll only pay for the products without shipping costs. Superbuy will request shipping payment once your order arrives at their warehouse. When your products arrive at their warehouse, you'll receive photos of your items and from that moment, you have approximately 90 days (if I remember correctly) to ship your order to your home address. They provided me this photo as soon as they received my package.

Step 4: Shipping method and delivery

I went with the "Europe Duty-Free Air Cargo-B" shipping method that the mods on their Reddit community (r/Superbuy) recommended. This cost me around 20 euros for shipping 6 rubbers to France.

The great thing about this shipping method is that I didn't have to pay any customs fees since it's labeled "tax-free."

The tracking was flawless both on Superbuy's mobile app and their web dashboard, allowing me to follow my package every step of the way. They provided me this photo as soon as they shiped my package.

Tips for shipping

I STRONGLY recommend to choose corner protector service option when paying shipping !!!!
The only real issue I had - which isn't Superbuy's fault but rather our lovely friends at Colissimo in France - was that my box arrived looking like it had been through a war zone.

Final Thoughts

I placed my order on March 6th in the evening and received it in Paris on March 20th in the morning. The tracking was flawless both on Superbuy's mobile app and their web dashboard.

The entire customer experience was super smooth - they sent me photos as soon as my items reached their warehouse (March 11th in the morning), and then again just before shipping after I paid for delivery.

Special shout-out to brother Gan who included free rubber covers with my order!

How do you contact the seller before ordering? Is that possible, since i see that the blade names and descriptions that are given in his site is crazy and difficult to understand and select, even though in English. You might have found it easier since you ordered only rubbers. The 968 blade names are all over the place and cant make out which is which !
