Would it bother you guys to play against someone using the same color on both rubbers?

I just received the wrong color from Aliexpress and don't fell like going through the hassle of shipping back.
I personally wouldn't mind, perhaps wouldn't even notice if playing one or two matches.

Club only, no tournaments.

If you do mind, do you then always ask to se your opponents rubber before a match?

I only care if you are using pips and smooth, twiddle and with same colour on both side in which case the just course of action for you, good sir, is to be dragged blindfolded to a courtyard, tied to stout post and have six riflemen aim their rifle at you!

In tourney, I always ask to see opponent's equipment!

When I started playing two identically coloured (usually even identical) rubbers was the norm.

Then again, I didn't have to play John Hilton. But even if I did, I don't actually would mind. Against twiddlers it's not the colour that tells me how to handle the coming ball; maybe the sound, but mostly it's the flight of the ball.

So no, I wouldn't mind. I actually think it's really silly and annoying that you can't have the same rubber on both sides anymore.

your opponent might not be happy (even in club setting)

your opponents does have the right to see your rubbers before a match - irrespective on the colors you have

To me, provided you are using rubbers with similar characteristics, it makes no difference whatsoever.
Now, if you are using pips/anti on one side and inverted on the other, that's another can of worms... and it's basically the reason why the two colours became mandatory.

Anyway, the easiest thing to do would be to ask people from your club and act accordingly!

Fair enough.

Only inverted pips and no twiddles from me, so I guess it is fine then.

Yeap, I'll surely let people know, just wanted to make sure it wasn't a douchbag thing to do and be the out-of-touch person asking these things.

Thanks

I suppose I react as you do, I wouldn't even have the time to think of the colour and then react to whatever movements my opponent might do (unless on serving).
However, I do think with the vast amount of rubbers and characteristics out there, the color difference must exist, and therefore it didn't even cross my mind to do so in a tournament setting.

Thanks.

Oh, I wouldn't mind showing them nor even trying to sneakily push the two colours into the match. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't too much of a douchebag move to even consider it.

Thanks.

in any official match, the players at the toss can request to see the opponents racket.
so this part is a norm and fair practice.
even if you don't want to show, you need to show.

regarding same color rubbers, this is all based on your club members.

one can have 2 inverted rubbers of different characteristics and one could twiddle and still make it difficult for the opponent. This is not just pips or anti, also applies for inverted.
if it is the same rubber or similar rubber, then there should be less of issues, but you will always get that one person that wants to refer everything to the law of table tennis and maybe make your life difficult

In practice you can do whatever you want as long as your opponent is okay with it. I usually just play in practice matches since they are for practice. In sanctioned or competitive events, your opponents might be more stringent as I would be, about the rules.

If we were playing a match of any kind of significance, no matter how small I would protest. If not I don't care...

Tournament or League match you can't do that but if it is just a social match in the park who cares (unless you are an ass and use an anti and twiddle:))

We actually have our internal ranking that I was thinking of using this setup, however, other than ego and your name in the wall, there's no other impact on table placement or even prizes.
If someone protest I'll take the opportunity to complain about the elderly pen holders who barely throw their balls and make very quick and precise placements in ther serving thanks to that. That does bother me a lot but I have let it slip out of good envoirment and not being the nagger (others have said it doesn't bother them).

Thanks

That's a topic for another thread to be honest. I also know of people using boosters or even speed glues (that doesn't really bother). On my humble opinion, an illegals service impacts way more than my setup. Besides, their services are chrystal-clear illegal as well, no one disputes that, some just will say it doesn't bother them.

I'll keep double black and see how it goes.

I got the wrong color once from XVT shop and they added the right color for free on my next order. You never send anything back to Aliexpress shops.
