On a different note. I used to go the guangzhou provincial camp quite often in my early days as well.
as a 12 year old I was only on par with the 10 year olds around there. Not because I was bad. The condition you are playing from europe and asia are two different kinds. I had to adjust for a week until I could start playing with the 12 year old and had more losses than wins in the end. I was quite good in my youth days within germany, if I can honk my own horn here.

Makes me question if that was really the provnicial team though. Before all the carbon and fast rubber came out, you couldn't possibily keep up with the speed and power they generated by training every day.
he was 1600 around 11 years ago (his own words),
when he was a kid, maybe lower,
no ways 15 year old provincial team (even the weakest) is that low level in China. Even U11 is higher :p

So I agree, there is a good chance, he was not even in the provincial team, maybe some random hobby player amateur club or, B, he is bluffing his level, as he felt at 1600, he could beat USA champion (2600) and used that comment to justify how good he really is (or rather isn't)

and indeed, for someone who isn't used to high intensity training, 2 to 3 sessions a day, the training will first break you down, before you can get back to your own par, and to improve only maybe from the 3rd week.

If you can adjust in 1 to 2 weeks, that is really good. Normally the first week is adapting to the pain from muscle soreness, or even feet or hand blisters.

Thread been derailed by people with small paddle energy. So circle back to the topic. I just don't want to detail my EJ journey because i can write a book about it. Choices are bad, simplify your equipment is the best way to improve. Do it once, do it right (boost -> glue h3 -> don't touch it unless you want to change rubbers) and that's that. I've thrown easily mid 5 figures on EJing, countless h3 nationals, countless custom rackets, differently glue, different boosters, reboosting, sealing blades, boosting with jizz, w968, w968-1, w968 player, boll 70, tmxi pro, hl5x , hl5, sys and many other crap. Even right now i'm an EJ owning 3 gold vis at $800 each. So not only i am probably the highest rated player in this thread, i'm also the biggest EJ. I know exactly what i am talking about and when I said do not do stuff, just don't do it.
You are the living proof that all the money in the world can’t buy a better player.

I don’t know what part of that impresses me more: spending 5 figures on equipment in that short amount of time, or spending all that money and still play like crap.

He still plays H3N BS himself on the FH and does train when he has the time. He is getting bigger, because love and marriage filled his belly probably haha.

I like how you just think your assumptions are always 100% and any other opinion needs to be proven wrong for you to be able to consider it. It might be due to your EJ journey, but I don't think that's all it.

And since we all recognize Gan and a few people do speak chinese. Here is a slight chat I had with him just now, because his Gewo booster reacted like a vulcan on my rubber.

He reboost his H3 every 1-2 month and changes it after 6 month.

I do not think anyone cares what and how you boost your equipment. It's just that the attitude of anyone having a different experience is wrong, is what is triggering most people here.
My wife says, i'm getting bigger because I eat too much and I mustn't blame it on her.....
but I agree, its love and marriage :p

haha, jokes aside
I'm sure if anyone wants to dig, there is plenty of material out there on reboosting H3
I have even seen pros do it, and the circumstances is different - after a couple of session, felt bad boost job, take it off, add 1 more layer on and back on again.
I have even seen boost to glue with maybe 1 hour apart.
He will probably discredit Gan too, and put him under 1800 with me.
and due to both our weight gain, half that, 900...

Gluing/booster is all personally preference and there is no correct or general way to do it.
If it works for you, great. if it doesn't, then make tweaks and hopefully you find your fit.

Out of my 3 decades in table tennis, and the past 10 years involved with semi professionals, and past 4 years with professionals, this is the first time I'm seeing someone barking (and correcting others) about how to boost rubbers or use equipment correctly from any level. not to mention a low low 2200...

As how we put it, does he have no shame... lol
never the less, the problem is no longer if he is right or wrong, or if we all are right or wrong, the problem is his attitude

39 degree bs is almost unplayable for FH. It lacks the power even if you boost properly. Try 40 degree.
As for boosting method, don't use falco tempo long. No one uses it on h3. If you can read/understand chinese, just follow the video from my original post. That boosting method is consistent among all the pro h3 users.
Unfortunately the 39 Degrees is the only one the shop had and I bought it - so I hope that it's not as unplayable as you said. Maybe 1 layer of booster is better not to soften it too much? Or maybe to PRIME it with speed glue and then one layer of booster. Priming is something we used to do on a rubber we felt was too slow, but we did NOT want to get softer - basically 7-8 layers of speed glue and stick to a glass window- leave over night then stick to blade normally with speed glue - once the VOC are gone, speed remains at +50% , spin and feel much better too.

I never primed AND boosted before though.

OK as for boosting I will watch the video carefully although I don't know chinese, as I am much more familiar with Priming than boosting

Nicely explained, totally agree with you. I tried reboosting once and threw the rubber away after one session, horrible.

On another note, h3 national blue sponge 39 degrees - one or two layers of falco long?

I don't like soft rubbers, but I need them dynamic. I don't need catapult, but I want them reactive to my wrist movement
Falco long is more suitable for ESN / JPN rubbers. Seamoon etc for Chinese rubbers.

ok i'll translate the video for you. buT you still need to watch it so you know physically how to glue and brush oil

When you open the package
1. put 1 layer of haifu black,
2. wait for 1 hour or something,
3. then put another layer of haifu black.
4. wait over night
5. put 3 layer of no 15 glue (it has to be no15, other glue have different viscosity and thickness)
6. can use hair dryer to make the glue dry faster
7. put 1 more layer of haifu black (optional)
8. wait over night
9. glue it on your paddle and never touch it again unless bubble/rubber come off.
So this method is wrong?

https://pingsunday.com/how-to-boost-a-table-tennis-rubber/

Many of my chinese friends use this method and it's normally used in Mongolia on chinese rubbers with Falco Long (although probably because they don't want to boost so often)- They indeed throw the rubber after one boost and play until performance is bad.

He uses off brands rubbers with similiar properties to H3 for reviews and testing. It just cheaper and more economical.

I disagree, H3 blue H39 is perfect for who wants a stable, easy to use H3 - even unboosted it can generate quite some spin and power if you have a fast blade.

This encourages me as since I bought the 39 national there's no way I'm going to buy another anytime soon. Do you think one or two layers of falco long? I don't like mushy...but obviously if too hard it's difficult to use well

You can try 1 layer of whatever booster you like, then see how it plays then adjust. I think for H39 1 layer is enough
