Great match from Liam against Xue Fei!
Very berve racking fight. Lots of great rallies.

Liam has both strong FH and BH, decent handling of short game and fast footwork.

Xue Fei tried hitting left and right to make Liam uncomfortable due to his tall body. But eventually Xue Fei's inconsistent and weak FH costs him the match.

Pretty unfortunate I can see Wang Hao's weaknesses in Xue Fei. Wang Hao succeeded in many major tournaments partly because he was among only few capable of in-table banana flick. But now almost everyone does it. Xue Fei has no advantage.

Passionate about TT

This was the 1st 7-gamer that Pitchford won since 2017. Yup. He lost in every match(except 1 doubles and 3 team singles) that went the full distance in 2017. The same thing happened in 2015.

(irony)The women must really love the new ratings system.(/irony) Sun Ying Sha just won her match in less than 14 minutes. Took Ding Ning just over 19 minutes.

Incidentally, do I detect a sexist undertone in these "Who's going to win poll threads"? Where's the women's version? Especially considering the women's title could really be won by any number of entrants, whereas the men's is pretty much a slam dunk.

I am not sure why Xu Fei is given so many chances inside CNT. Clearly he has too many weaknesses to be considered top draw talent. None the less , Liam is in top form. Won't be surprised if he continues his superb run.
I think that is because CNT wants to cultivate a new great penholder player after Xu Xin.

Xue Fei is a great player but why does he keep making illegal serves? He made 40 or 50 illegals during the Steger and Pitchford matches and only got yellow carded once. Weird.

You answered yourself. 1 yellow card per 50 serves is a good quota if you ask me, why bother changing anything.
