Hello everyone, I am new here.
I am a relative beginner who was playing when I was young but haven't played for many years. I am thinking of getting back into it.
I have a question that might seem stupid but it is honest and I would appreciate if someone could help me understand:
Why is there like 10 000 different rubbers? I know about thickness and pips length, but aside from that, are the differences between same type of rubber from different brands that big?
And what about new models of rubber that keep coming out? Do they just repackage an old version with a different name? Or is there really a lot of research and development into new technologies?
I am just looking for a way to understand what I should buy as a good all around rubber, keeping in mind I don't have specific playing type and just like to train and have fun?
Thanks
