I’ll play my first league next month, but i damaged my rubber at training, so i won’t be able to use it on the matches and need a replacement. I was also thinking about change the other rubber, but it isn’t available :(.
So now i have two options:
- change only the damaged rubber, and keep the old rakza Z( 5 month old, still plays nice)
- change the damaged rubber and try a new rubber on FH (thinking about other hybrid rubber such as C55)

What do you guys think?

says Anybody seen my backhand? 🙈

Yeah, i just don’t want to play with the old rubber
what we did back in the days - we had a practice set of rubber and competition set of rubber. practice set of rubber would be what it says - practice rubber. it would be 2 or 3 sets of differently worn rubber which I / we would use during practice. one set would also be used prior to the tournaments / league matches to use speed glue (makes a bit of a difference) and then on Friday before tournaments / league matches we would glue the competition set and do one practice session with it. usually practice session before major tournaments or league matches was not a tough one, usually a little bit of serve and feel/touch practice ...

and that's how we would go through the season. in the middle of the season we would get new sets of rubber, which some of us used immediately, some of us would put them on the side and have two or even more competition sets. but it was always same same rubber - i.e. in my case Sriver FX FH max and Tackiness D BH 1.8 until I switched to Moonbeam when I also switched to Yasaka Mark V on FH and BTY Ekrips on BH. but we NEVER changed type or even thickness of rubber prior to the tournaments of league matches. NEVER. if we did change material it was during longer non-competitive part of the season or between the seasons. mostly, before the start of the season.

What was the damaged rubber? Did it play comfortably for you? If so, as someone already said, don't experiment before the tournament. I guess you should also take the break in time for the new rubber you're gonna purchase into account, as any rubber has to have some break in time. So that said, replace the damaged side asap.
