I am a chopper and used to play with Tenergy05 for my forehand rubber on dhs 08X Blade.
I recently found out that some choppers use hybrid rubbers on their forehand.

Do you think there are some advantages using hybrid rubber for chopper's forehand? (I use 70% chop, 30% topspin or volley for my forehand stroke)
If you think so, what kind of rubber do you recommend?

I'm not a chopper, but can do when needed. I don't play with T05, but have tested it and reviewed it, I don't really like T05, but that's a personal thing.
What I did find was that T05 & T19 were both great for chopping, in fact I though BTY were missing out by not offering T05 with a thinner sponge. D09C was also pretty good, but I felt T05 has the edge. I've used quite a few 'hybrid' rubbers, not so many of the newer hybrids, but have used K3, Jekyll & Hyde H52, H8-80, Dynaryz ZGX, none of them match T05 for chopping!!! If you do want to try a 'Hybrid' I'd go for D09C if you feel the high price for a 'trial' is worth it, or try it if a friend uses it.

Thank you so much for your opinion!
I guess I will test it out with my friend's 09C.

What was the biggest difference between T05 and other hybrid rubber?

I personally prefer hard, dead tack-ish rubbers. On my LP racket I have an old Yinhe Moon Pro 2.2 on FH. It works well for chop and loop but If I was only playing with that setup and as a chopper I would def go to a thinner sponge. Maybe look at Satoshi Aida's equipment, since he's chopping and spinning on fh & bh with inverted. I do think there are many advantages of hybrids. Filus and Gionis rarely if ever chop with fh.

Control, I was more consistent with T05, now as I said I’m no chopper, but I can chop a few back!!
against loops I’d get 3 back with T05, 2 with Tau 2, K3, PK50. flight was better more predictable. When visualising the ball flight I wanted T05 was closer to the mark and gave a better quality shot. slightly easier to play a float ball.
You have to remember it’s better for me but probably not everyone!!

harder hybrid rubbers make sense because as chopper you dont need the medium gear that is hard to generate against low-energy balls. You either keep it slow and spinny or you go for a big counter. And you dont need to sustain your attacks. You can just go back to chopping when its blocked back slow.

D09c is one of the best for underspin chopping, but not the most powerful for attacks.
T05 hard or other very hard hybrids (55+ deg) are better for powerful attacks that can win points when using defense blade.

Get a softer older tech rubber... Aurus soft is an outstanding one. I chop like gangbusters with it. I like to goof off and play defense.
You are chopping with Persson PP blade in your sig with the Aurus Soft?

I built a cheap DEF setup to goof around with chopping at the end of practice sessions. Currently looking to replace an ancient sheet of Palio Blitz on the FH. The Aurus Soft sounds like a good rubber to try.

says I want to train...
My forehand rubber on my chopping setup is Loki Arthur China.

I use it to chop on FH and regularly twiddle to use it on both sides when I think it is a good situation for it compared to the pips.

It has exceptional spin, especially on a slower and less heavy setup.
Both of my training partners today, pointed out how good and spinny the "normal" rubber is.

Serves, pushes and chops would cause them a lot of trouble and would often win the point right away.
To be fair, I can spin the ball really well, especially with wrist movement type of shots, probably better than anyone at our club.

And it's definitely easier and more dangerous with a tacky rubber on a slower blade with more dwell time.

Since I rarely smash, flat hitting is never an issue for me.
All of my attacking shots include some sort of upward looping / drive movement.

Overall, I recommend the Loki Arthur China rubber as a chopping rubber.

And I would encourage you to use it actively more often, as it can create difficult to handle balls for your opponent.

Has anyone else used it on a chopping setup?
