I have for a year now played the Michael Maze ALC Off by Butterfly, and I thought I had found the perfect combination with blade and rubbers performing really well for me and I was really able to get a lot better with this equipment. I found that I could do anything with my blade, and the blade is also made for pros so I'd never thought that id outplay the blade.. But now it feels kinda boring, it doesnt give me the power I once felt in it, though I can still do anything I want, but the speed is boring me.. I feel like the blade is too soft and like the blade can't help me to go bigger :(

But I think I have now found my new blade in the STIGA Maplewood NCT V, that I originally got from STIGA like two years ago, but never used as I felt it would be too fast and not controlled enough for me. Allthough the Butterfly blade is considered faster than the STIGA blade, the butterfly blade does now feel a lot slower and has, despite the carbon, too much vibration.. Is it just my blade gone bad or have I developed past the blade and have to go for the faster one? Have any of you experienced anything like this with such blades? I know this is normal for allround blades when you get better you want a faster blade, but with this blade that is one of the fastest you can get, is this normal?

Haha, I feel kinda stupid or arrogant now, but I have to be honest and I want to know if the blade may have gone bad.. Does anyone have an answer? :)

.......I was really able to get a lot better with this equipment. I found that I could do anything with my blade, .............

Then why change?
I think that you simply miss the thrill of getting to grips with new equipment. That's a typical sign of the EJ syndrome.:)

Maplewood and MM play quite different. Maplewood is an all wood blade, has tremendous self power. MM is really really fast but its carbon so it doesnt has a lot of speed variations. And I think because you are used to all wood blades right now MM feels so different you imagine its kinda slow, but its not.

I got 2 advices for you: If you want a REAL upgrade to your Mapkewood V, get yourself a 7ply of the hardwood series, the fastest is definitely the Rosewood VII.
Youre going to have a faaaaaaaaaast racket ;)

Second advice: Play for the next weeks only the MM and you get used to it. After this you decide which blade feels better for you and stick with it! There is no blade which is to slow, everything is technique believe me. I know players who play 2. league of Germany with a Stiga Allround Classic and they are playing freaking fast because the have the right technique ;) And MM and Maplew V are 2 fast blades, you do nothing wrong with them :)
