Hi! I am going to get my first combo soon but I am not sure about what I should choose. I can't say that I have a certain playstyle so I am looking for something with high quality so I can find what is proper for me in the future. Right now, I am planning to do a combo with 2x DHS Skyline Tg 3 Neo + Yinhe N11-S. There are also European options like 2x vega intro but as I have searched, European rubbers aren't good for solid-or fully loaded if that is how you call- chopping or spinning. I like chopping and spinning but I am not a fully defensive player. Thanks.

There's a new post asking this question almost every week.
I'd advise you to search the forum and you'll find 4 or 5 similar threads in the last month.
If you just scroll to the bottom of this page you'll see 5 threads of similar content

You have a point but my post is not only asking for an equipment advice without providing any ideas of my own. I also did think about opening this post with the title "Opinions About 2x DHS Skyline Tg 3 Neo + Yinhe N11-S".

Very true 👍
I should have added that I cannot advise on that combo as I have never played any of them 🤷
Anyway, there's lots of info in those other threads that may help you decide and I'm sure you'll get some good answers here too.
Cheers

It's going to be a huge jump coming from a pre-made racket. Did you ever try someone else's setup? How long have you been playing for? Are you still learning the basics,? Are you training at a club, with a coach? And if so, what do they think and why?

Only racket I played other than mine is my friend's timo boll black. I did not play regularly until january/february of 2023 but I have played when I had the chance for like 3 years. In my city it is not easy to find a place and person to play with. I started the college and found a friend who is trying to find someone who wants to play table tennis regularly. I do not have the possibility for training at a club with or without a coach. I think I can do basics but I may not be comfortable while applying all of them. For example, when I want to win the score and do not want to risk any points, I start trying to hit the ball with my backhand even if the ball comes to my forehand because I am more comfortable with spinning or chopping with my backhand.

I think the n11s isn't bad at all, versatile and not too fast. It's the rubber I'm not too sure about in your current phase. Sure, you can buy it and get used to it, but a) will it help you to become a better player, b) is it just as sensible to get something a bit cheaper?
You might not even enjoy playing with these rubbers, given where you're coming from.

You could go for something a bit easier to control like Yinhe Mercury 2 - which is dirt cheap, too. I personally really like Palio Ak47 too. Both are not tacky rubbers but that means they're more similar to your current setup

There is an online table tennis shop in my country and they sell some combo rackets as their suggestion and they sell it cheaper if you buy these suggested combos and here are some:
-2x yinhe mercury 2 + yinhe n12
-2x yinhe mars 2 + yinhe n11
-2x yinhe sun + yinhe n12
-2x tibhar volcano+ + tibhar v2
-2x xiom musa + xiom paltida
There are more advanced combos but as I understood from what you said they aren't suitable for me. If skyline tg 3 neo is so difficult to control for me, I can consider some combos like that. Do you think 2x mercury 2 is the best one for me?

Being closer to center of mass of appropriate zone is what to be concerned about... ur N11 wood blade and Mercury rubbers are plenty near center for what is needed.

No need to worry about what is exactly right as there is no such thing for this situation... kinda like the saying of no solutions but only trade offs. The trade offs for N11/Mercury are not so bad at all for ur son in this moment.

Center of mass is not terrible slow or fast blade with softer sponge control oriented rubber. There could be 10,000 possible combinations fitting that need.

Just get one close enough and call it a day.

Excessively researching and trying to perfect it will not get anyone there. Exactly perfect and the N11/Mercury will do ur kid the very same thing right now.

Alright then, I just realized that you just know how I feel as a beginner who is trying to build his first combo racket. There are many rubber choices but I will stick with 2x mercury 2. Just one last thing, you mentioned n11 many times but the discounted suggested combo by the store is yinhe n12 + 2x mercury 2. I would buy this combo without any further research but just noticed that n12 is medium and n11s is hard. Would it make big difference? I can just pay a bit more and make my own combo with any blade you would suggest like n11s, tibhar match, yinhe n4-s. But if it won't make much difference I will just buy the discounted suggested combo from the store.
