I don't think there is an alternative to Glazyer 09c. As you can tell, some people love it. Some people hate it. I have not seen a rubber dividing people up so much (well Sanwei Target National aside). If you love it, then just buy the rubber and take a good care of it, and forget about a cheaper alternative.
Rakza Z is my answer. It's cheaper but not as much.

I can easily switch these rubbers between my FH and BH without any issues.

Just be aware that Rakza Z might become bouncier over time. You may need to adjust your strokes slightly, while G09C tends to maintain its characteristics for longer time.
Thank you both, I've tried some Xiom rubbers that I liked too but performance drops off really quickly and my current Glazyer90c is very new so it remains to be seen how long it can last. The shop I went to recommended G09c as a stepping stone to Dignics09c which if I go for will only be because Dignics lasts longer. I've also read elsewhere on this forum that G09c plays similarly to Loki T3. Now I'm not sure if I wanna continue sticking with G09c or go up or down lol or maybe just go tacky all the way with some chinese rubber. Really hate to continuously EJ though which is why I put off changing out my D80 for the longest time even though I didn't like the initial feeling.

Stick with G09c. Butterfly products usually last forever. If you like it and the sheet is new, don't get tempted to EJ. you have found the one! Just take care of the rubber and you will save more money in the long run than go EJ'ing.

I used to play with hurricane 3, it's not the lack of speed or tackiness. It's the lack of performance. It can only go that far, a hurricane practically doesn't have a ceiling.
I agree. I played H3 before. The question is, can I get the full potential of H3, especially on my BH? For many of us (hobbyist and amateur), it's challenging to do so.

With G09C, even hobbyists can! All I need is the right technique. By engaging my core muscles effectively during the strokes, even with weaker muscles to generate power, I can still penetrate the sponge and utilize the rubber, and my blade as well!

If anyone struggle to penetrate with the 2.1mm, you even get 1.9mm as an opt.

IMHO.

I tried G09c on BH for a short while on a Boll Spirit (outer ALC). Here are my personal findings (that probably do not apply to all):
- Serve : Decent
- Banana flick : This is where this rubber really shines, 10/10!
- Short serve returns : quite good
- 3rd ball attack vs backspin : Good
- Counter loop : Ok
- Power loop/drive : Bad
- Regular block : Ok
- Punch : Terrible
- Flat hitting : Terrible

Or get a 37° neo and be done with it. Cheaper and better. Boost it too, doesn't matter. H3 will always be better.

With harder topsheet H3 will always be better as a frisbee when you throw away a yet another stupidly heavy sheet.

H3 is still the best rubber in production. There's nothing like it and that's why the entirety of China and half of the rest of the world use it. Plus it's not heavy, 39 degree 2.1 is perfectly normal. If a 20 euro rubber lasts or 2 years easy and a 60 euro tenergy dies within half a year without having a playing advantage, I'll say it's 20 euros well spent.

No Tenergy and no other rubber gives any advantage compared to a H3, it never did and it never will. No rubber has surpassed the H3 formula. It's the best because what you get out of it is what you put in, it doesn't have a ceiling. Euro/Jap rubbers do, there's a point where they just can't reach. The high tension, grippy surface and soft sponge will limit your spin generation and power output, a tacky topsheet and a hard sponge simply don't do that.

G09C is better than Hurricane 3 provincial when it comes to cost performance. It degrades slower than a boosted H3. I can get a month out of my boosted H3 BS and the next boosting just doesn't feel the same anymore. G09C tho seems to retain its spin and quality better than H3. It's better in the long run than buying a h3 every month.

I think people should stop talking about rubber's ceiling or something similar to that. It's not like we can reach that supposed ceiling and activate the rubber's potential in every shot. In a match situation where you become stiff and nervous, the lower ceiling of g09c is a blessing.

If you need a hurricane every month then you simply don't know how to maintain it. My 4 year old sheets can still hold the ball for about 10 seconds, that's good maintenance.

Buy a provincial orange and you have more speed, a ton more spin, and massively more durability.

If someone can consistently penetrate the sponge with a topspin stroke and power, the pips will break within 3-6 months at most. Advanced players might break them even sooner. I might be wrong, but that's what I've seen.

Or do Chinese rubbers tend to break easily? IDK

Ask yourself if it wasn't for the sponsorship deal DHS have with the CNT, in that a DHS rubber must be used on any CNT players FH, then would that player still use the DHS rubber??
OK, many probably would, but money talks!!
Also in the past, Tenergy was used on the BH side by many CNT players who would then twiddle the Tenergy onto FH side when smashing, because Tenergy was easier to smash with ETC
Additionally, DHS have had to revise the H3 top sheet, reducing the tackiness levels. Why?? perhaps to bring it in line with modern hybrids.
mind you for £ 20- 30 H3 is great value.

Never talked about the tack here, I was talking about the sponge. You said you just need to boost H3. Unfortunately, a boosted H3 only lasts for a month, and you need to re-boost it. The feeling of the rubber after re-boosting it is just not the same anymore. I'm not a professional, but I sure don't like the feel of the re-boosted H3.

Getting a commercial one is fine and all but QC is horrible; Good if I get the good one but what if I get the horrible one? I'd be wasting my money. I'm not playing lottery with my equipment. Losing in a tournament is a big no for me, I have face to keep here, lol. The hassle of boosting is also not worth it.

With G09C though, I don't need to worry about QC and durability. BTY's QC is top notch, and the durability has always been incredible. While ESN and boosted H3 lost their juice in a rather sharp downturn, g09c and bty's products would lose it gradually which means I don't need to do any extreme adjustments for my stroke. What's more, it's forgiving and for someone who loves winning tournaments, that quality is very desirable.

You can't break rubber. Maybe plastic, but not rubber. Unless you let it to dry in the sun, that's a whole other story.

They changed the topsheet because it's cheaper. The more expensive hurricane rubbers still have the tackier surface. Plus many complained that they couldn't use it because it was tacky, so yes, in part they did it so they could sell more. It's called business.

And yes they would use it because it doesn't matter what rubber you give to a pro, they'll still use it effectively if it's close to their preferences.
