I came across this video just a while ago and am considering buying a sheet of Hurricane 3 and boosting it. I have no idea if this will actually work or even ruin the rubber. Is this method fine???
It won't ruin the rubber.

It will expand the rubber, make it a bit softer, and it might improve the feeling and dwell time.

However, it won't add any rebound/catapult

It’s alright, but seamoon yellow is much better. You can use just about any mineral oil as well, but the reaction will be less than with a booster made for the purpose. I use ”Haifu seamoon yellow”.

Cheers

im gonna use the baby oil and see how it goes. I'm still on my break which has been extended to 3 months due to more injuries.

baby oil is evaporates very fast.

some people moan about booster being inconsistent performance when it "wears" out over time.
well, baby oil is worst.

baby oil is very wet, don't use too much, but its very inconsistent too.
if you are a lower level player, then maybe it doesn't matter if the rubber is inconsistent i guess

One thing in the video made me virtually shout : "this is wrong" and this is the amount of the oil he slobs on the sponge. One should not flood the sponge. More thin applications will work better than having to wait for all the puddles to dry and have inconsistent patches.

That man also has a bad way of applying the glue, too much and badly spread.
Both, boosters and glues should be applied sparingly and evenly spread.

In his last video Heming Hu said that it doesn't make a difference if you put 2 or 3 layers or a big one as long as it ends up being the same overall amount. Whether you decide to put it all at once or slowly over a couple of layers, at the end of the day you're still putting an x amount of oil.

I think that is true. In the end, really what matters most is how the sponge itself responds to booster. After 1 layer, the 2nd layer really doesn't do much.

PERFECT IS THE ENEMY OF GOOD.

1) Dr. Konrad Tiefenbacher, a learned engineer tribologist, did unveil the fact that too much adherence between rubber and the ball would affect your performance adversely. This is to say you will be a happy player to keep up with non-tacky rubbers.

2) How do I know how much adhesive capability for different rubber materials.

I thought we were talking gluing and boostin, not playing ?????? 😂
I will only boost if I need to boost. I don't think the way hu glued and boosted effected how he performed

I ordered a sheet of hurricane 3 neo prov (blue sponge) with 41 degree hardness do I need to boost or should I leave it be?
