Hi, general piece of advice needed if people have the time. .
I’m a returning player who used stiga chop & drive (2.0) on my backhand many years ago/ I used it to push, chop, block, deal with incoming spin and roll the ball and use placement a lot. Not exciting play for the neutral but suited my playing style abd was very effective.
On my return, stiga chop & drive is not about (certainly in a thicker format), is there any other rubbers members think could do a suitable/similar type job? I’m not bothered about budget as long as it’s a rubber than can do the all of the above and primarily deal with incoming spin, block well and be good for the counter block.
I’m using a stiga tube offensive carbon blade.
Thanks in advance.

I'd opt for Gewo mega flex control. Mainly because I know someone playing it.

Coming from chop & drive which seems to be only in 1.1mm, I'd try the 1.5 or 1.8 depending on how much control you want. (less sponge is easier to control but also slower)

You can certainly get other options like Mark V, Sriver etc. Compared to my suggestion those will be slightly more spinny and fast. They're all non-tensor though so the difference in today's game is minute.

Thanks for the recommendation - I’m going to do some research on this rubber today. Would you happen to know if your friend is able to counter attack/block at pace too? I’m wondering how much speed I can put of it too.

P.S. I used chop & drive 1.8

I would go to Nittaku Hammond Z2 1.4mm (Middle)
Thanks. This looks a really interesting rubber. I may pick a sheet up although im
Considering going 1.8 on a carbon offensive blade. Would that be too fast for a player who primarily stays at the table using controlled blocking/pushing/counter attacking etc??

Yasaka Mark V, Butterfly Sriver, Donic Coppa are all quite insensitive to spin and decent all-round rubber to keep the ball in play. Most brands would have something similar.
Thanks. I’m looking into the Donic Coppa and the Donic Slice 40 CD as possible replacements?

The Hammond Z2 is a newer technology rubber, in 1.4mm will be as fast (or a bit faster) as Stiga's chop & drive 1.8mm, is excellent for pushes and blocks and is very spinny! When/If you get used to it (your are going for a faster blade also, right?), then you go for 1.8 or 2.0mm Ζ2.

I use Z2 1.8mm for FH chopping away from table, and for spinny FH attacks. Blocking is excellent even thought I use a "bouncy" & flexy 5-ply all wood blade.

Ohh that does change things. I'd opt for Mark V or Sriver, for the simple reason the production quality is incredibly consistent, and they will stick around for years to come.
Thanks. In my case, would you opt for 2.0 (Mark V)on my bh?

Thanks for the great advice. It adds to my options.
