STIGA Mantra M or Butterfly Rozena (BH)

Hi TableTennisDaily community, I am almost amateur player and I want a change on my backhand rubbers, I currently use DHS Hurricane 3 on my FH and my BH kokutaku blutenkirsche and my blade is a DHS PG7, my backhand rubber is tearing up and I want a upgrade.

Which one should I get? STIGA Mantra M or Butterfly Rozena, the PG7 has a long trajectory and I don’t know which to get, Rozena is a forgiving rubber but I also want speed and control so I am stuck with these options.

Thanks.

It depends on what you mean by an amateur player.

Anyway, it wouldn´t really make a difference for almost anyone if it were Mantra or Rozena. In both cases, you should take a 1,9 mm sponge, to get control, it won´t be slow. With Rozena, you would get a longer lifespan, with Mantra, you would get a sharper feel. Mantra is also harder by a degree or two.

I would recommend getting Mantra M, on PG7 it played really nice, but here in Europe, they are discontinued. Not sure about Asia.

Rozena will be made for a long time.

Just remember, both rubbers will be much faster and different than Kokutaku.,

Thanks for responding, so for longer lifespan and a little more control I should go for the Rozena? I am now currently training in China which the Mantra is much cheaper than the Rozena there, how hard is the Mantra to use? PG7 has a long trajectory and I currently looking to improve my skills without compromising overthrowing every time.

thanks.

Rozena did not feel very forgiving to me. In the short game especially, Rozena is extremely sensitive to spin. Returning a short spinny serve is very difficult. I'd recommend Mantra.

If you're using Blutenkirsche right now, this is already harder than Rozena and Mantra M. If you want something the same hardness as Blutenkirsche, try Mantra H (it's not actually that hard). If you want something a little softer, try Mantra M.

I heard the Mantra durability sucks, I am stuck with the Pro H or just buy the normal H, which I’ve seen great reviews on revspin or ttd.

I've had two sheets of Mantra Pro XH for almost a year and I think they're holding up quite well. They lost a bit of their speed, but it's not as if they're tearing or unplayable or anything. I'm still able to create fast, spinny shots with it.

Honestly, I prefer my rubber on the slower side, so I am actually happy that the speed got reduced. It's more controlled in the short game, and I can still hit hard to make a fast shot. Still faster than Hurricane 3 by a good margin. Can't complain at all.

So overall I should get the Mantra instead of the Rozena? I’ll test the Pro version when I am confident with my forehand technique and level. I still sometimes overthrow the ball on my H3 on FH which I don’t know if it’s my PG7 or just the rubber itself, my original plans were Rozena on BH and H3 on FH.

This sounds like a good plan to me

Are you using H3 or H3 Neo? H3 is slower with a lower arc

It doesn't matter what you have, they're similar and last about the same. Speed is also the same and spin too. Feeling is different.

Trajectories and all that is irrelevant and most times we can't make use of them. The only things that matter is price, quality, speed and sensitivity.

These two are fine, but rakza 7 is better. It's much more durable, it's pretty easy to use and isn't too fast or responsive.

So get what's cheaper and don't think about it too hard, cause there's no point.
