Hi all!
I am an experienced (probably high intermediate / lower advanced) player.
Up until half a year ago, I used to play with Virtuoso Off+ (5 ply wood but fast and spinny), with HK1997 Gold (which I feel is a better MX-P) on FH and H8 on BH. During the last 4 months I have been attending a club in Mongolia and training daily.
The first change: I switched the H8 to Tenergy05.
2nd change: I switched Tenergy05 as FH and HK1997 Gold as BH although I often flip during sets to confuse opponents a bit, especially when I have the serve.
3rd change: Last month I bought the Fan Zhendong ALC (Basically a Visciara) - it was my 1st carbon blade and it took me a good week to get used to, but daily training and match practice helped and I now feel very comfortable.
I now want to set up both rackets with suitable rubbers to have two set ups for the league which starts in October. I would appreciate suggestions from the below list:
I bought and tested various rubbers - and I own the following (all new):
H3 National Blue sponge 39 degrees - (I once used Nittaku H3 Pro Orange sponge (39 degrees) boosted with 2 layers of Falco long, but ultimately it felt a bit mushy with booster directly on sponge, short game and serve were phenominal, 3rd ball was amazing - but somehow as rallies started I hit the net or the ball went out. Serve receive was amazing and I denied my opponents many attacks. A mixed bag - Maybe the H3 National blue is better? Worth a try?
729 Bloom Power - tried on Avalox P500 and loved it - but my training partners said my FH topspin had less of an impact than with HK1997 Gold
HK1997 Gold - my go to FH generally - very easy spinny serve, 3rd ball normally causes many opponents to block long, FH loops very spinny - although not so fast I don't boost it.
Tenergy05 - at 1st felt waaayyy too bouncy but now that I got used to the way it plays, it's kinda similar to the HK1997 at least for FH loop and 3rd ball. Blocks on spinny shots and serve receive still pop a bit at times.
Fast arc g1 - I bought two sheets after trying it out on my friend's Fan zhendong ALC for 15 minutes - the rubber felt very very natural, easy, and can do everything - I'm especially torn between Fast arc and HK1997 as they both feel so natural to me
AK47 Red - played as BH in past - I love the point and click direct feel, changed it because it didn't seem spinny enough on pushes when I serve receive against strong players
MX-P - still have a sheet but I don't like it as much as HK, Bloom, Tenergy - I will try to sell it actually.
Reactor Tornado v5 - got it cheap and it's just lying there
Loki Rxton 1 - same
So how should I set up my Fan zhendong ALC and my Virtuoso off+ 5 ply? One limitation - both my H3 Nat and my Tenergy05 are Black - others I have in both colours.
for example
FZD + H3 Nat + Fastarc g1
Virtuoso + Tenergy05 + HK1997 Gold
or maybe the opposite:
FZD + tenergy05 + HK
Virtuoso + H3 Nat + Fastarc g1
Or any other combo? Does the Bloom deserve another chance? Should I delay h3 since league is starting? Etc.
