After a very taxing 3.5 days of position tournaments, where no 1 and no 2 was exempted to take part (as they auto qualify if they are ranked higher than WR40 in the world), 13 players fought off for positions 3~15.
There were 3 stages/rounds.
The winner of a BO7 1st knockout draw gets position 3. Draw based on last years results.
The 2nd knockout draw is based on 1st KO results and winner gets position 4.
then 3rd KO draw based on 2nd etc, and then will play out all positions (winner gets 5th, finalist gets 6th etc).

IMO, it is a crazy tournament, with many deciders, and little recovery time.
for example, Chang Yu-An faced HYC in the finals of 1st stage and almost won a very close 7 game thriller - that went the other way in the end.
CYA then met KGH again in the finals of 2nd stage.
by the time 3rd stage came, he was exhausted and couldn't make it out of the SF against his team mate LYC.
Chang Yu-An (current U19 WR on3) has a huge chance to get into top 50 these few months.
having a position 8 now, however will mean zero star contender and contender for him.... which is a pity, since NER will go towards the rank above.
Its not easy being a national player in Taiwan.
You fight for your rights to play in a crucial national team trials and then national position tournament, and no one can take away your rights (unless you decline to play certain events, and the next spot gets a chance).
Same situation for Feng - you won't see much contenders for him this coming year.
so this is tough on the players, but then again, this is true fairness, as no coach or national committee person can choose players out of favoritism.
Each player achieve positions by merits and the coaches/team need to go with such results.
