The Pistol Grip

How so? Is it better than Cpen, Jpen, or Shakehand?

Are there any cheaper ones? These are way out of my budget :(

I thought it was a great idea. I bought it, played once and never played it again. It’s still somewhere in my house.

The grip is just not good as i thought. On the FH, you don’t have any finger on the (bh) rubber for support and it affects all the FH strokes greatly. You don’t have any feeling at all and the bat shakes much more than usual. If you put your index finger on the rubber, it’s a little better but it’s not natural and your hand will get tired very fast.
On the BH side, the angle of the racket is like RPB but with much less range of motion, it does not feel natural at all.
Serves are terrible because of the short range of motion.

I have a pistol racket and I play with it sometimes.

I wouldn't use it seriously in a tournament or anything, but it's fun to play with. The backhand attack is a dream, in my opinion. I've never been able to attack so powerfully and accurately. If my opponent gives me a topspin or empty ball near the net, I'll hit it onto one of the corners at bullet speed.

I'm a backhand-dominant player (even with cpen grip) so maybe this is just me expressing my strengths.

I can serve pretty well on both forehand and backhand. Pendulum serve is quite good. There is decreased wrist mobility, but if you relax your grip you can deal with it. Usually I do not put my index finger through the pistol grip, and instead I use it to stabilize the back of the racket. If you do this, it increases both wrist mobility and control over the racket.

Honestly there is only one area of the pistol grip that I can complain about: the defense. It's very awkward to block with this grip, and that is the main reason that I would not play in a serious tournament with it. As soon as your opponent attacks, you MUST try to counterattack, because blocking is hopeless. It seems to me that from a physical point of view, the most stable blocking position is when you can put your wrist and forearm behind the racket, at a 90 degree angle to the racket. With TPB, this is very natural. With handshake grip, it is less natural, but still possible to get your wrist behind the racket. With the pistol grip, it is extremely awkward to put your wrist behind the racket.

it can't be better, since no one uses it professional, or any one who uses it has done well with it.

I can list a lot of champions using cpen, jpen and shakehand.
can't think of 1 with pistol grip.

so maybe you need to remove the word "better" into the comparison index and just use what it is for, maybe a fun blade for recreational players (hobby). It is different, and maybe that is what some people may want.

The market is obviously small, so it will be difficult to find different models. but try on ali express for cheaper ones

I think in my first sanctioned tourney in a visit to the Rocky Mountains, an 1800 level player defeated me using this... he could FH heavy slow topspin quite well with this using an old classic Chinese rubber... 729FX I think it was or something inexpensive/tacky...

... but that was way back in early/mid 2000s and the game has changed a lot since then.

I really need cheap ones, like, ones costing like 1000 pesos (~20 USD)

There ARE some cheap ones... I do not know if the vendors of there will ship it inexpensive to you in the Islands... but the base cost of such a blade is not much on the low end...

... but $20 USD is not a realistic price for the low end of this blade, unless you throw in something buy someone a chicken dinner. You are stretching it to find them at $30 USD base price.

I like strange grips and I am really curious about why people dont like the idea of a racket used as a glove. This is the most natural way in terms of how fast the brain will adapt to hitting the ball because you allready know where your hand is in space. As an example, competitive pistol shooters know that the brain is really efficient at pointing, so they have the index finger pointing alongside of the barrel of the gun. Its similar to how you get a more efficient forehand when you have your index finger high up on the backhand rubber, as some younger up and coming players do nowadays. If you have your hand inside the actual racket, you can basically have your fingers where the contact point of the ball is. Have a look at how the grassroots urban game of handball came to be ... its just something intuitive.
