Hello friends,
Currently I am using Sanwei V5 pro with battle 2 pro (39 and 38 deg) both on FH and BH from last 6 months. I am pretty confortable playing with this setup but sometimes against specific opponents I feel that my setup is not very fast therefore thinking to upgrade.
I have battle 2 pro 38 deg on backhand which I have recently starting liking as now I am able to play spinny and powerful shots but it is hard to play full strokes everytime especially during a fast rally close to the table. Moreover my current setup feels very soft, I have tried my friend's Viscaria which is very hard and direct even with ESN rubbers.

My playing style is offensive and I like to play loops on both wings.

Looking for a semi tacky rubber on backhand which should not be very different to the one I am using. I understand the below BH rubbers are quite different but I am unable to find similar ones therefore need your help.

Below is the new setup which I am thinking:

Setup :
  • Blade - DHS 301z or Viscaria
  • FH - Battle 2 pro 39 or Battle 3
  • BH - Palio AK47 red or GoldArc 8
Queries :
  • Not sure how good is DHS 301 Z compared to Sanwei V5 pro
  • Is DHS 301z a hard blade ?
  • Is Viscaria good for chinese rubbers ?
  • Is Palio AK47 red sponge a good rubber for an intermediate player?
  • Will GoldArc 8 / Palio AK47 red suit me as I am used to tacky rubber on BH
Any suggestions will be of great help.
Thanks.

V5 pro is a lot harder and faster than 301z. and it doesn't produce this loud noise/sound as the v5 pro does.

V5 pro has thicker handle, 301z is very thin so beware of that.
it's not a hard blade, rather soft.
Viscaria is indeed good for chinese rubbers.
It's good for a certain type of play who relies on fast and flat hits. Other than that, it won't produce insane amount of top spin on your loops like other chinese tacky rubbers do.
Palio Ak47 is a very fast rubber, kind of like mx-s just less grippy and has more dry topsheet. If you're used to sticky rubbers, try yinhe big dipper or something like that.

Can you compare the V5 and Viscaria more? mostly on dwell time. (i tried 729 blue ALC speed is ok but not enough dwell for me)

For OP
seems like upgrading to Vis + going for a chinese hybrid might be the way to go. you could look into H8-80 or H3-50. if you want something more Euro/Jap style but still semi tacky, the Sanwei Gear Hyper might be the one for you, just get the harder sponge as it plays quite soft.

the Gold Arc 8 isn't semi-tacky, it's a full on tensor and plays that way. although i can recommend it as it's a very good do it all rubber and can be found significantly cheaper than other ESN rubbers.

V5 has noticable more annoying vibrations (as if the blade is going to break upon the contact) and loud sound as the outer layer is extremely hard compared to viscaria which has muted feel, less loud. In terms of speed I would say V5 has slightly less speed and less flex. The main difference I guess is in the handle, V5 pro ST handle is the thickest I've ever had. It's really thick and bulky compared to viscaria which is not necesarilly thin by any means but it is thinner than the V5's ST.

Thanks everyone for your replies. :)
Finally I ended up getting DHS 301X (thicker core) with battle 2 prov(40) FH and battle 3 (38) BH.
It has been a week and speed wise I am quite comfortable, lot more power and very controlled on drop shots.
Overall setup feels direct and harder than the previous one which I am liking.
On the downside - It is a bit heavy around 192 grams and sometimes feels a bit fast.
