Both FZD and ZJK ALC blades are basically just Viscaria with a different handle, right?
Yup 👍
Dimensions etc on the butterfly website have all 3 of them as identical but the FZD feels somehow 'fatter' than regular Viscaria when I held it.
Never held the ZJK but it does come in Anatomic handle option which the others don't...
Worth noting that in playing the Viscaria and the FZD the Vis had Tenergy both sides and the FZD had Dignics both sides so blade comparison was impossible...

I have played all three. Big NO

Same composition but Butterfly uses different glue and gluing techniques.

Dwell time: FZD > ZJK > Vis
Flat hit: Vis > ZJK > FZD
BH: Vis > ZJK > FZD
Top spin rally: FZD > ZJK > Vis

I can go on but they feel quite different. I still love my ZJK the most because it’s very well balanced.

FH dominant? FZD
BH dominant? Vis

Interesting...
Where did you learn about the different glue and techniques used at Butterfly?
I've not heard that before...

probably not, cuz then there would be 3 copies of viscera, making the 2 more expensive ones useless :|
Different handles though.
But even a different name on the handles would usually be enough for Butterfly to market anything! 😉

Just out of curiosity: Have you tested those 3 FZD blades with identical FH and BH rubbers so you can come up with the comparison?

The level of curiosity and depth among the Chinese tt players is insane

The 3 blades I mentioned above are ZJK ALC, FZD ALC and Viscaria. FH rubber is always 41 H3 BS boosted. BH either D64 or Vega China.

The setups are very similar. My current ZJK and FZD setups are 100% identical. The difference is quite noticeable.

I win more BH points with ZJk but more FH points with FZD

even if the blades have the same weights they will play differently depending on the wood they used that day. i have two different hugo hal blades with the same weight and the same rubbers and they play similar enough to switch them in competition and play without a problem, but if they would have different handles i could make the same assumption as @SFF_lib did.

even inside the viscaria blade range there people who specifically choose a build year based on the code on the blade, because of different woodply propperties at that time of build.

the only real proven difference besides handle is the difference between timo boll and viscaria/zjk/fzd and even there people are still saying they're basically the same.

People who don't buy lots of similar equipment tend to put differences in performance down to brand. So FZD has supposedly better forehand than Viscaria. In reality, a lot of things other than handle, can drive dissimilar behavior between blades that should be exactly the same., especially weight and time of build (we haven't gotten into wood which is affected by time of build). If you haven't bought 2-3 Viscarias and tested them against 2-3 FZD ALCs, please stop being so sure that the blades play differently. These blades play largely the same and the player just has handle preferences.

Hurricane 3 neo fit my forehand best it's going so good after all it cost only 20 dollars but I'm thinking how would blue sponge one compare do I need boosting? , and also I can't decide my backhand rubber dignics 09c is too hard for me I can do drives but it feels hard and tiring easily , I need softer sponge I never tried normal dignics series like 05 ,80;,64 , or use tenergy series but my coach said tenergy has small lifespan and break easily , is dignics 05 soft or feels hard , and coach said that 64 makes it feel soft but it lacks grip and spin so he suggested me 80 , so I have to choose between tenergy 05 or dignics 05 or dignics 80 , my style is that I lack consistensy but I finish the point fast by powerful attacks

Thanks for the post. Would you say ZJK Alc is your favorite among all three of them? Thanks!
