Why do only Chinese players use DHS rubbers?

So i know that most Chinese pro players use Chinese rubbers, especially hurricane 3.
My question is why do non Chinese players not use DHS?
I've read that the technique is different between European and Chinese players, but I think as a pro player you could adjust easily to new techniques.
Is it only because of sponsorships or is there another reason?

It isn't sponsorship. Many non DHS sponsored players do use DHS rubbers.
DHS is more common in Asia, since Chinese training partners has invaded most of Japan (there is a lot of H3 in Japan) decades ago already.
Koreans and Taiwanese have followed suit since the 40+ ball (post 2016)

The new ball (40+) actually gave DHS a big boost.
Many brands was slow to follow with "hard" sponge rubbers and DHS capitalized on this opportunity.
With 40+ carbon blades and harder sponge rubbers took over. Many went to H3 on FH, mostly with Chinese training partner/coaches influence.

I guess its kinda like why Americans dont eat sushi. Its totally new and unknown to them at first and takes time to accept it.

Sushi really took off when they adapted it to western taste with California roll. You might say dignics 09c is the California roll of tacky rubber.

Theres probably more and more players willing to use H3 in the future.

Fun fact, the California roll isn’t actually California roll, it’s actually supposed to be just CA roll, where CA stands for Crab and Avocado, but people in the states saw CA and took it out of context and thought it meant California.

Most pro players seem to be quite conservative regarding equipment choices. Why drastically change your setup, risk months of transition period, for a (fractional) increase in spin at the expense of loss in speed, and potentially end up being worse than before?

They can also switch to D09c, which is also very spinny (likely to have a easier learning curve than H3, for non tacky rubber users), or other hybrids. They could even get their sponsor to design a new rubber for them if they are big enough!

Do you know Mr. Konrad Tiefenbacher?

Non expert talks in plenty, sorry. Let's speak in scietifical manner. Back in 1992, Prof. Tiefenbacher did reveal experimentally that the tacky topsheet would slow down spin and speed dramatically.

Be happy.

So you're saying the almost all players on the CNT decides that they want their shots be less spiny? No wonder you always say be happy, you're so funny. :ROFLMAO:

If you want to have the opportunity to compete abroad, please use Chinese equipment. That's what China is all about. Ha ha!

There is no speed or spin that H3 can't do. I think that is obvious since so many of the best players use it.
So what if the rubber is not quite as fast as others. A faster swing will make up for that. The tackiness allows the player to brush more thinly and get more spin that way.

Well Kasumi and Hayata are some of the none Chinese players using Hurricane 3 on their forehand. I am sure there are others. I believe many of the singaporean players use Hurricane 3 as well although none of them are in the top 30 at this stage

I originally came from Chinese rubber and after some lessons with my current coach, he told me to ditch it in favour of Japanese rubber. He said Chinese rubber needs a different kind of play style / body mechanics and he does not know how to teach that. My point is, coach plays a very important part in what equipment a player uses, ultimately.

The stereotype is strong with this thread.

Do you consider Han Ying German? She uses H3 on the FH.

I wonder how many non-European players, more specifically East Asian players, does the OP watch?

So many Japanese and North/South Korean players use DHS it is difficult to keep track of.

i can understand that and in the end it is after all the man/woman who makes the equipment work.
I wish I ever had a coach 😁

OP should have rephrase from Non-Chinese to European, meaning why doesn't the ethnic European / Caucasian uses H3?

And I believe the answer is unfamiliarity and no coach who is able to teach chinese style. It is like asking the Ukrainian pilot to fly F35 / F18 or Nato pilot to fly MIGs. Same analogy.
