As per title, in some distance land far far away, rating points is an alien concept. Those denizens living there are confused, perplexed and vexillate by this strange alient concept.

However, to assist those who are confused, perplexed and vexillate, here is Gozo to the rescue:

1. You are super noob if you can't push, can't topspin, can't anything at all except standing on one spot and using pure wrist to make funky serves and win points against similar super noobs like your good self. If somehow the ball does get returned, you lose the point because you do not know anything else. Please note: Your serve is most probably non ITTF rules compliance, that is, illegal. ( eqv. USTTA rating 0 - 750 )

2. You are a regular noob if you can do some pushes, can serve with some decency and comply with the bare minimum of ITTF rule. Other than that you are just a regular noob. ( eqv. USTTA 500 - 1000 )

3. You are a bona-fide OB player when you can start to do more than push. You know how to open up and your serve and receive game start to get decently well. You can also drive and block with some decency. ( eqv. USTTA 1000 - 2000 )

4. Now you start to become a serious OB player when you can do all the above mentioned and now you can counter-loop as well, making you a formidable foe in your local club / league. ( eqv USTTA > 2,000 )

This list is not exhaustive.

That number is an arbitrary reference based on USTTA which is the most common rating ref. used in this forum. I am speaking to the gallery, so to speak.

This is a relative definition of 10 different levels in table tennis. It might be helpful to someone looking for what to practice to get to next level.
It would be so UBER cool to have this printed out and place on a plaque and hung in the TT center. There after all players will know their place in the greater scheme of thing for the GREATER GOOD!
