The group stages at the World Team Table Tennis Championships on Wednesday 28th March 2012 were finalised with the women's main draw commencing today. As expected number 1 seeds China finished top of group a with an extremely strong side including Guo Yue, Ding Ning, Liu Shiwen, Li Xiaoxia, Guo Yan.

Men's Championship Division

Yesterday the group stage for the women's championship division were completed with the group standings determined and the entry's put foreward into the main draw of the event!

During the group stages of the women's championships division China, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore dominated their respective groups. Teams fininshed second and third in the group stages were: Poland, Romania, Netherlands, Austria, Hungary, Korea Republic, Germany, Korea DPR.

As China, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore won their groups they have a direct entry to the quarter final stages of the World Team Championships with the rest of the teams having to compete against one another in the last 16 of the main draw.

If the seedings go to plan, China will face Singapore in the final! Will we see a repeat the previous World Team Championships in 2010 where Singapore defeated China against all odds in an historical showdown? Will China take revenge?
