Was this tournament already in the works with the Brazil TT Association, or was it just contrived and cooked up in less than a month?
Can't help but notice that WTT Montpellier got announced as a premier event in the wake of Alexis/Felix breakout performance last season. Truls got Olympic silver and now we have an European Smash in Malmö after years of Sweden only hosting Feeders events. Now Brazil gets a star contender quickly. WTT Fukuoka is happening this year too; curious to see who foots the bill this time though.

Star Contender in Brazil was on the initial schedule for 2025 already, it said Sao Paolo back then though. Still with the same dates.

Had been there as "29 Jul-3 Aug: WTT Star Contender Sao Paulo 2025 (BRA)" until at least 2025/2/14
Has been changed to "29 Jul-3 Aug: WTT Star Contender Foz do Iguaçu 2025 (BRA)" from at least 2025/4/8, so roughly a week before World Cup 2025 took place.
