China's 22 year old repeats history as Xu Xin defends his Qatar Open title which he won in 2011. On the 11th February the World number 5 won the Qatar World Tour Open 2012 in dramatic style defeating compatriot Wang Hao in a full seven sets.

As expected by many of the fans in the Table Tennis World, the number 1 and 2 seed clashed in the final of the Men's Singles where Xu Xin defeated his colleague Wang Hao by 4 games to 3 with scores: 11-7, 7-11, 9-11, 4-11, 12-10, 11-5, 12-10.

Xu Xin appeared very strong once he trailed 3 games to 1. Wang Hao managed to combat Xu Xin's lethal forehand by placing the ball to the diagonals alternatively, however Xu Xin's forehand started to break through the wall and tactics of Wang Hao.

Focussed Xu Xin recovered from a 3 set to 1 deficit and took the game into the seventh set! Xu raced into a 3-0 lead in the final set of the championships, which forced Wang Hao to call a time out.The time out worked into Wang's favour and won the next 4 points. Both players now giving it their all for the title. The points were now tied at 9 a piece. The crowd and players were filled with tension as Wang Hao served and won the point with a demolishing forehand. This was Wang Hao's second match point of the game! Xu Xin managed to save the point and then won the next point from his serve. Xu Xin now led 11-10. Hao served which created a huge rally with the number 1 seeds forehand just missing the table. Xu Xin celebrated!
