Planning to change the rubbers too

From
setup:

  • Backhand: Yasaka Mark V (1.8mm)
  • Forehand: DHS Hurricane 3 Neo (2.15mm)
to

Yasaka Ma Lin Extra Special

YSE to Ma Lin Extra Special is too big of a jump.

I would say that Ma Lin Extra Offensive is the better progression from YSE in term of speed (although the feeling is certainly different).

A subtle progression will be from YSE to Ma Lin Soft Carbon (basically a YSE with thin inner carbon).

I was reading that inner carbon has a problem that they may not kick in most of the time and only participate when used with full force and body strength and thus going for 7 ply is a better option rather than going for carbon. Otherwise I was thinking about even Butterfly innerforce ALC but that text made me wonder and rethink.

@sebi , I totally understand. One part of my brain says to go for this faster blade like 7 ply or even ALC innerforce and another part of the brain says stick to it (even when my current has chipped a bit) and apply new rubbers. I guess other players might have gone through the same tussle some point.
