Yinhe 970 xx C (short review)

Purchased this blade in a hope to get premium yinhe blade as the price is almost twice compared to Pro 01/ V14 Pro. I was disappointed to say the least.

First, the handle is a lot slimmer than Pro 01 / V14 pro. The initial ball test on bare wood sounds ALL+OFF- speed, Pro 01's sound is higher in pitch. So I assumed the blade would be very slow in game. Another bad thing I discovered is that the smallest sweet spot I had ever seen. It was a circle around 3-4 cm in diameter very close to the handle, not even in the middle. In the middle of the blade ball bounce was as slow/deadish as on the edges.

When I glued the rubbers (Battle 2 gold, H3N provincial) I found the blade to be VERY top heavy and this caused so many mistakes on my part when in game. I'm used to more neutral balance or towards the handle and this caused to miss my shots a lot more often. Small sweet spot + insane flex of the blade makes it very uncontrollable. On low impact shots it's an OFF- blade but when you apply force the ball sinks into the sponge, the bled flexes and then it shoots out with a very high speed. It's hard to control that moment therefore I sold that blade really fast. I guess most intermediate players would be FAR better off with Pro 01 which is A LOT more controllable even though it has higher base speed, but at least it's very linear and predictable.

Sounds like a HL5 to me. At least I had the same experience with that blade.
Very fast on big Hits but hard to control.
DHS blades at least the ones I had (301, 301T, 301x) had amazing sweet spot, almost the entire blade. Yinhe 970 xx C on the other hand was so tiny in comparison

I can confirm it.
The DHS blades I tried (PG5X, PG6X, Sun Yingsha, 301, 506X, Fang Bo B2X) had huge sweet spots, especially the Viscaria-alike (PG6X, 506X). The blades from YInhe (Pro 01, Pro 05, 970XX K, Y-series, T-series) had a much smaller sweet spot, almost twice as little.

Sir, is there any way to measure or calculate sweet spot of the blade?
Or can u please share ur method for the same.

A bit subjective, but bounce a ball on the blade without rubbers and listen to the sound.
When the sound is close to the sound of the middle it is within the sweet spot . It gives you at least an idea.
But in reality its just 2-3 cm in diameter.

Cheers

The guy above pretty much covered the method.
You can bounce the ball on the blade (even with rubbers) and see when the bounce height and sound start deviating when compared to the center of the blade.

If you just want a blade with a large sweet spot and it's important for your game, then buy Stiga/DHS, they historically have large sweet spots. Pretty much every user I encountered praised the sweet spots of these brands' blades.

agreed, that's why cybershape carbon is probably the best blade for near the table blocking game or for flat hitters.

I tried tonight the 970 C.
FH : Target National 3 BS heavily boosted
BH : H3 Neo 37º OS heavily boosted

The test was very very fun, especially on the backhand. First of all, the blade is very nice to handle. The handle is a little thinner than the Yinhe Pro 01 03 05, and it's the perfect size for me. Second, the balance is perfect, less head heavy than my usual setup. Regarding the sweetspot, I did not notice a narrower zone than my other blades.

I was not as efficient as with my usual setup, but I loved playing mid distance on the BH. I felt like Lin Shidong! The FH was more approximative. The heavy boosting made it not very controlable.

The feeling of the blade is close to the Pro 05. There isn't a lot of vibration, the feedback is quite low. Some would be bothered by that, but I like it. And I like the same feeling for my tennis blades.

Maybe I'll test the blade with other rubbers, maybe the new Arthur Europe 45 that I'll receive soon.

Would you say pro 05 vibrates more then?
