Not an easy call, but I would say that the Falcima is not a control focused blade but rather an all wood Viscaria. A good Korbel is always a good bet if you like the feel and balance. I am not familiar with the Maze advance but you could also consider the Hadraw 5 as this is the latest 5 ply...

Agreed, to an extent - but it has obviously become a bigger issue as he has got older and so, for me at least, should be a factor taken into consideration.

That's not my point - by the time of the tournament it's too late. His prep may well be impacted by injury or an inability to prepare fully. Surely better to pick an in form player with good fitness and resilience and give them a chance to build up to the event.

We are also forgetting here that Timo has been struggling with staying fit to play - when he’s been back for a while he looks good but then misses a tournament (as he did Manchester) due to injury or illness, and then takes time to get back to form. In my view this makes him a risky prospect...

No, I don’t see this at all - Timo is 50/50 if he shows up and wins, and Dima has looked weary for a while. Franz on the other hand is probably playing the TT of his life - consistently too..

Innerforce ZLC is a fair bit slower and more controllable then an outer ALC like a Viscaria. I use a Franziska inner ZLC and find it much easier to play consistently with compared to my Viscaria and other outer ALC blades I have. So to answer your question I think if paired with decent rubbers...
